"High Output" Ram 3500?

Comparing my window sticker to other trucks for sale(on the same lot where I purchased mine)I can find no indicator that specifies if I have the "High Output' engine. The only thing I have noted is that I do have the Aisin transmission and I think that trans is only matched up with the HO motor.
Anybody got some "Ram knowledge" on this?
Thanks

You are correct. The Aisin is only used with the HO Cummins turbo diesel due to the 900 foot pounds of torque. The combo is only available on the 3500 and heaver models.
And, I am so jealous

I got lucky when I was truck shopping. Found this Tradesman CC SRW 4x4 with 5864 miles on it. It was exactly what I would have ordered, could not pass it up with my trade in. I'm real happy with the power the truck has. It tows my Laredo 350 FB very nice.
Thanks for the info.

If you have the original window sticker, it should list the engine options that are installed in your truck. If you don't have the window sticker, you might be able to get a copy by using your VIN at this link: https://researchmaniacs.com/VIN-Numb.../Chrysler.html

If you open the hood and the transmission dip stick is on the drivers side of the engine it is an Aisin tranny and has HO engine. Yellow dip stick. If the dip stick is on the passengers side of the engine it is the 68RFE and the standard output engine.

Well now maybe I can get a few answers here? I have always said this was the "Information Station!"

2012 Ram 4X4 6.7 Diesel, 68RFE Transmission

No where on my "Window Sticker" does it state "High Output Diesel," however I have the real purdy "High Output Diesel" emblem on the lower right side of the tailgate. Soooo did I get the HOD or just the emblem? Have only had it in the shop twice in six years and never thought about asking!

Yes you have the 2012 version of a RAM HO engine.

2011 - 2012* 350 hp @ 3,013 rpm. • 800 lb-ft @ 1,600 rpm (auto trans) ..

Note from the link below: Cummins, Ram Trucks launch higher output, 800 lb-ft engine in February of the 2011 model year.

My 2015 is 385/865, and later one are even move.

2018's
6-Speed Automatic (68RFE) 370 hp, 800 lb-ft
6-Speed Automatic (AS69RC AISIN) 385 hp, 930 lb-ft

Here is a complete run down by year.

You know, until 2001 I detested Dodge/Ram trucks. I have come to really like them, but, the silliness that they do with the various engines/trannies/etc. now drives me crazy - I'll still buy them but it seems like there should be a better way.

JRTJH, I did look at the window sticker but could not find any indication of HO except (as I found out later) that the Aisin is mated only to the HO motor. I did see the Aisin trans on the sticker.
Snoking, Dip stick is drivers side and yellow=Aisin=HO.
Like I said, feel lucky to have found a great ruck for the job.
Thanks, very good info as usual.

You can create an account for your truck at https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehic...d/details.html and see recalls, and many more things about your truck, including the window sticker. Chris

This is great, thanks! I had totally forgot. It has all my service and recall history. Curiously, it has my payload listed incorrectly from what my door sticker says. I thought it was tied to my VIN.

OK, so this is a question I have been really wondering about. I have a 2003 RAM 3500 with the 5.9 Cummins. I tow a 5er of about 13,000 pounds empty. I have a 15k Hitch. The truck has about 150K miles on it. It is in good shape overall.

Anyway, when I first bought it, I also bought a Smarty Junior tuner. This is a software upgrader for the engine. I programmed it for the highest output. It SEEMS to improve the power, but there is no number I can find on how much it might have improved the performance.

Does anyone know anything about the Smarty Jr tuner and what it can do to a 5.9 (in terms of HP and Torque)? I would like to know how much I have improved the power by using this tuner.

Thanks.

Find a dyno! And get it tested.

MAD/Smarty usually did not recommend towing at the higher settings. Do you have gauges? Boost, EGR and tranny temp?
