Cool New Member Check in

I just purchased my First RV, although still being built.
So I'm new all around.

There are none around me to go look at, new or used
2019 Impact 332 Toy Hauler, bumper pull, to tote around my Honda 1000-5 SxS.

Upgrades are Patio package 2 A/C's and 5k Generator

Still Learning about Sway Bars/Dist Hitches, dealer is No help, once the sale went through they went Ghost mode.
And my RV is still being built, wont be done till next week.
The manufacture has been more helpful with some of my questions.

Does anyone have one of these and can give me advice on a Good Sway bar/Dist hitch that fits and the back up camera, its not pre-wired.

My Tongue weight from factory brochure is 1546, now I'm way to new and may not fully understand but I would think I need at least a 1500 lb tongue weight sway bar. Safety is very important to me.

Dealer says a 1200 lb tongue weight is more than fine.

Pulling this with a 2016 Ram 2500 4wd, Cummins

Thank you in advance.

Welcome!

Hopefully others can help you with the WDH for that high of a TW. One thing to think about is toy haulers typically have very heavy empty TW but once you load your toys in the back your TW may lighten up. (I am not saying a 1200# is the way to go or correct answer). The tough thing is you will not know for sure what your TW is with the SxS loaded until you have the unit and can go to the scales.

Good luck and enjoy!

Ramit, I'm going to guess the weight of your SxS at about 1700 pounds. It may surprise you how little the addition of your toy will affect the TW of your RV. I wouldn't let the addition or subtraction of the Honda affect the bars I chose for the WDH. There are a number of members on this forum exceedingly versed in WDH's and which ones are the best. When you've chosen a brand, call the respective factory and ask to talk to a tech. The good ones will guide you through it.

We are jumping in!

The closing on our house is May 23rd-lived here for 17 years-from the day the contract was signed until closing will be 1 month exactly! Been having estate sale for the past 2 weekends (after the option period expired)-last one this weekend YAY! Bought the RAM last Saturday and will pick up the Alpine next Wednesday. Utilities are scheduled to be shut off. Have signed up for escapees and mail service and have found a RV resort to chill for a month and recuperate So excited but...at times scared to death! Have I forgotten anything?

I have a 2016 Impact 312. Your toy as stated will not take that much off of the tongue. You want to hit the sweet spot of 10 to 15% on the tongue or these things swing like a dingy tied by the bow to a dock. Get a good weight distributing hitch (WDH) and adjust it as per the instructions. Makes all the difference in the world. The tongue weight you are quoting is 12% of your total gross camper weight (camper weight + carrying capacity) or if fully loaded to the limit or it is 15% of your camper weight. Your weight will change once you load it. Your weight is probably close to the 1200 pounds provided by the dealer. I am using the 1400 pound bars and don't load mine close to the limit. They do great. I do use an Equilizer 4 point, which I highly recommend as a superior product which gives great results.

Hope this helps. Welcome to the forum.

Enjoy your new rig and lifestyle. We are living in our Alpine 3651RL while our downsizing apartment is getting renovated. Hope to full time in 2 years.
