Considering a Passport 2810BH....

My wife and I have 2 kids. We also take our parents camping with us a good amount.

The plan is when my parents camp with us we will give them the queen bed. So that leaves my wife and I sleeping in either the bottom bunk, or the tri fold sofa.

We haven't actually looked at the passport in person b/c the closest dealer is 3 hours away. With that being said, I am 6' 285lbs and my wife is 5'5 150lbs. Would we be able to sleep somewhat comfortably in the bottom bunk? How about the tri fold sofa?

Unless they changed something, you won't be able to fit on the sofa. I'm 5'10" and can't fit without bending my knees. You should be able to fit on the bottom bunk. I've seen someone over 6' sleep/lay in that area.

At nearly 450 lbs combined, you'd be hard pressed to get you and your SO in that bottom bunk together AND get any quality sleep. 2 kids, yes; not 2 grown adults. You could wing it by yourself and then have your DW sleep on the sofa bed if she's up for it. I was at the Detroit RV show 2 weeks ago and walked inside a Keystone with this layout. There's probably a weight limit on the bunk too...but I'm not completely sure.

I have a 2810BH and love it but we are upgrading to a 5er this year. I think the 2 of you would be a better fit on the dinette. It’s pretty long and wide when made up. You might want to add some extra supports to make sure it can handle it. My grandkids love the bunks. The idea of 2 kids in a bunk and you and your DW sleeping in separate places may work. Don’t be afraid to go to a dealer and have them let you set it all up and rest on the beds for a while.

Checkout Haylett Rv online and look at the walk threw with Josh he does a pretty good job showing things and what to look for. The bottom bunks are rated for 250lbs in the passports. When we are camping with the grand kids and the little mutt, I like sleeping on the dinette with a sleeping bag so I can slip out before all wake up and make coffee and fix a little breakfast using the outside kitchen.

If you decide to buy the 2810BH. Make sure you drill some screws in the wood around the perimeter where the table rest to make the bed. That wood is only held up by small staples. On my first trip my Aunt came with us and slept on the dinner bed and broke it. I went to home depot and bought some screws and two PVC pipes and cut them to support the table. Other than that the Passport 2810BH has been a great camper for us!

We own a 2510RB. the tri fold sofa would definitely hold both your wife and you. We added a 3inch memory foam topper that my daughter uses we carry it on the mattress during the day. The dinette is certainly longer but not as wide. I cut 2 pieces of PVC pipe that are at the bed height and fit inside the steel poles. When the dinette comes down and we remove the steel poles the PVC pipes act as a support using the same table holes and it is solid as a rock. I am 240lbs and have sat on the centre of the table and not a creek. We also cut a 3 inch memory foam topper for that bed and my kids love them both. We also put a 3 inch memory foam topper on the reduced king bed as the mattress is not very comfortable on its own.

This is what you do:
Grandparents in the queen, you in the bottom bunk, wife in the top bunk, 1 kid in the dinette fold down, and 1 kid in the sofa fold down.
The bunks are spacious on the 2810bh and you will sleep much better there then on the lumpy sofa and dinette.

I have a 2015 2810BH and it's a great camper. Call me selfish but the queen bed is for my wife and I. When my parents stay with us for a night or two, my father uses the bottom bunk, my mother uses the dinette and my daughter uses the upper bunk. As others have said, the bunks are fine for one adult each. I'm 6'2" and have slept on the bottom bunk just to try it and it was OK. I advise on using a foam topper on the dinette bed to keep all the cushions from moving around.

I just replaced the jackknife sofa with a fold out bed so I'll see how that pans out this summer. Taking the dinette apart every night is PITA.
