Growing up, my father welded 1" box steel across the frame to make an extra support, then took a standard 2" hitch receiever and welded that to the box steel. He then tacked the hitch onto the bottom of the bumper, but the bulk of the weight was on that box steel which wasn't going anywhere. He then took a standard hitch mounted bike rack and plugged that into the 2" receiver. He also modified the back rack to support 4 bikes and welded a diagonal support brace from the bike rack down to the receiver. The thing was crazy solid, I will say that. Unfortuantely, I don't have a picture since this was 20+ years ago.

Here is mine, an Ultra-fab hitch welded to frame rails. I have a 12" extension which I have a 28" tool box mounted on, and the bike rack in the extension. I have a hitch tightener to limit movement, and use the bolt to tighten the bike rack.

I was considering using one of these:

Any thoughts?

We have a Bike Bunk. It is connected to the front of the trailer. We put our Yakima bike carrier (for 4 bikes) into the Bike bunk.
