Decided life was too mundane and quiet, so I bought a King Tailgater Pro satellite and a King Quick Release mount to attach it to the roof. It's not permanent so I can reposition if needed to face south.

The mounting instructions are good and easy to follow except..........

There's no, nor any hint, about mounting hardware to use to attach to the roof. I'd appreciate some guidance on this if you have any. TIA.

I went o the website and watched a video, early on it flashes a HUGE warning sign 3 times so I think they are serious when they say YOU HAVE TO DETERMINE THE PROPER FASTENERS for installation.

I’ll just keep putting my carry out on it’s feet on the roof. If someone wants to take it bad enough, I have theft deterrents in place.

This is what I do with our winegard pathway x2 when it isn't on the tripod. I got a fairly long security cable and master locks that lock to it on one end and some tree, trailer, etc on the other end.

I put ours on top of the slideout though, i'm a bit nervous about putting on the roof and I usually don't have the ability to get up that high anyways.

I know the security cable is more of an eyeball deterrent than a real one...its looped through plastic after all, but at least it gives someone pause before they try something. And makes me feel better when we aren't around.

I would just put it on the roof and put a bicycle cable on it and secure it to the top of your ladder. That's providing you have a clear view of the satellites. If you have to put it on the ground then find a picnic table or something to secure it.

What I'm really looking for is what size screws to use to attach the mount.

The mount (pictured) will be permanent. The Tailgator Pro will not be. If it needs to be repositioned for satellite access, I will detach it and move it.

Nothing longer than 1 1/2”. I would use a pan head screw, what size? Slightly smaller diameter than the hole but with a head that’s bigger.

I would use butyl tape underneath and then cover with Dicor self leveling.

Thanks Chuck. That was my plan and you e confirmed it. This will be a Saturday install, I'll post how it went.

I similarly put the Tailgater on the roof with stainless, large head, screws. Then ran the coax down to the convenience center. No problems and generally pretty good reception.

I finished the install of the mount and the antenna today. Really easy to do.
1. Assembled the mount.
2. Placed mount on roof after measuring the centerline and clearance from the AC and vent cover.
3. Marked where the 9 screws would go and drilled the holes.
4. Placed lap seal on the holes, placed the mount over the holes, and put the screws in the holes. Put more lap seal over the screw heads.
5. Finished mount install and allowed to cure a bit.
6. Placed the antenna onto the mount.

I'd rate this one as easy peasy. Special thanks to Chuckster57 for his guidance. I'd highly recommend this set up. If I'm not oriented the correct direction, I can disconnect the antenna from the mount and replace it properly on the roof.

That's not done yet. Waiting until after August 1 to connect it a month at a time. I'll try the satallite hook up first. If that's a no go, I'll drop through the roof into the entertainment center. Thanks.

Chip, you can try it out without turning on the service. You'll get the guide, a number of channels that you cant see, and then some like Dish101 that you can get video on. Yu should be able to troubleshoot connections without turning on the subscription.

Powered up the satallite and the Wally to test it. Connected to the satallite connection at back street side and works perfectly. All I can say is wow.

Dont have a rear ladder to mount it to. Besides, if someone wants to steal it, they'll have to bring their own ladder. No easy pickins here!

I've got one, but did NOT mount it on the roof. Yes, it would be a lot easier, but we travel a lot and stay at many different CGs. Usually I put it on the roof and point it north, but at least 40% of the time it has to be somewhere else on the ground so it can see around trees, etc. We're also very seldom pointed north and I've found that's significant in order to get the most satellites.

Very nice install chip I went a different route we take the WiFi with and I swapped out the TVs for smart TVs and we stream Netflix if raining or bad weather. But that is some nice work.
