roadglide, Howdy;

Been doing some Solar research myself. Two places that I've found during
my sniffing around are;
http://www.amsolarrv.com/landing
and
http://www.discountsolar.com/

The bottom is closer but only open during the Winter (wonder why ).
I know two fellas, one that has used the upper link and another that has
used the bottom. Both gave excellent reviews to me when asked. They
ain't cheap but the work done was first rate at both. From what I was told.

Both will also sell and ship you the gear to do it yourself if that floats yer boat.

We go to quartzsite every year and yuma there is a lot of solor places. I didn't know didn't discount solor in quartzsite , ill look into the product. The problem is batteries there is to much controversy. There was a guy in Cal last year boondocking at casino . this guy was set up with a semi truck full of solar equipment installing to a lot of folks going to Elcondons mex. I was given a good quot 8 hours labor with my help. He explained running wires into the breaker box to my circuits it made sense to me.

Thanks for the sites Hankaye

I just spent a week and a half with a buddy camping and I was simply amazed at what his solar panels and invertors could do. A solar system is on my short list...

I went with a transfer switch so that the entire coach would have power to all of the outlets. Better than running seperate wiring to hard to reach places. Of course you will need more batteries and solar. A pro could do this quickly. Chino

I agree with the transfer switch as being a great option, this way all outlets are activated. BUT you must turn off the breaker to the onboard charger/inverter. I'm probably going to hook up a relay to the charger breaker so it's an automated process.

When figuring out the panels layout on the roof cut some cardboard cutouts the size of the panels your planning on buying. This will make the final layout easier. And another tip, if your having trouble making room for the panels make the switch to 100 watt mono panels, you can usually layout way more panels and get more wattage than using larger panels.

Utilize the fridge vent and holding tank vent lines for running wires down from the roof.

Don't always think MPPT controllers are the best option, with the price of panels going down you can usually add one more panel for the price difference between MPPT and traditional charger. A much better choice and bang for buck.

The MPPt controller senses when the batteries are low and suppose to boost a charge . I though that was standard equipment . What you said is add another panel and dump the NPPT that makes sense , there will still need a monitor for voltage coming into the batteries .

Hi Roadglide, There is a fella named Eddie that is full timing and is down around Quartzsite and around southern Arizona every winter and installs solar and gives great advise. He has done many RV installs. Here is his info if you need it. I'm sure he should help

Does Eddie pull a early FW with a semi truck like you said Full timer. He had just finished big class A. I was impressed with his work that was at Quechan casino in Cal 10 miles from Mexico.The Tech had permission and licensed to install Solar,we sat out under his awning discussing everything , he has access to the companies that supply the kits around the winter bidr area. I lost his card Thank you for the reply.

So... With the transfer switch, you just lug the inverter into your fuse panel through a transfer switch? Then your entire house is able to be ran on 110/120 from the invertor? Minus A/C?
I knew there had to be a way beside running new wires to new outlets...

Any problem with the GFCI outlets after the inverter from the transfer switch?
