Bre, Welcome to the forum. I don't know who "THEY" are but they are way off on the payload of your truck. Look at the sticker that Ford put on your door jamb and find your gvw .... weigh your truck with a full tank of fuel and all passengers and gear (most likely well over 7000 lbs.) .... deduct from gvw and that is what your left with for pin weight. ....... much closer to 2000 than to 5600 lbs. ....... Don't take anyones word on payload, do the math yourself and travel safely. TOO MUCH TRAILER Not JMO but fact.

Bre, I have to agree with Hank. Check the numbers and you'll see that the trailer is to much for your TV IMO.

Ok I have found a gawr 5600 for front and 6100 gawr for the rear I also found the gvwr of 9800 on the sticker in the cab door now I also found on the tire sticker on the other door that says weight of occuiped+cargo should not exceed 2495lbs so I am guessing that is what can be in the bed of truck? Fifth wheels have around 20% of their weight on the hitch. The 3200 you originally quoted sounds about right, and that’s way over your truck’s cargo capacity.

For the real deal, take your fully loaded truck to a scale and find out what each axle weighs.

Hi. That's not the deal. What you can have in the bed is 2495 less weight for passengers, options on the truck and anything else you are carrying in the cab. Keep in mind that from what is left over you have to deduct weight of hitch and anything else in bed to get true pin weight capacity.

True payload "allowed Pin Weight" is the GVW of 9,800- what the truck weighs with you and and what ever you plan on having with you when towing, including the hitch.

It is just too much weight for a F-250. That is F-350 DRW territory

That was me then....

Here I am now!! I can't agree with the peeps on here that swear by the dually towing capabilities and stability. I sold my F350 srw and just picked up an F550 drw and all I can say is WOW! This thing can tow!

With 3200 pin weight (rounding) you are 700 lbs overweight, add 150-200 lbs for the part of the hitch that is mounted to your truck, whatever you weigh, whatever beyond the stripped truck that allows the 2495 lbs, and you may be closer to 1200-1500 lbs overweight. I would scale the truck, fully fueled, and with you in it - check what is left on the rear axle weights, subtract 200lbs for the hitch and call the the max pin weight you should be looking at. You can get a TT (1800 tounge weight / 16000 trailer weight) to work with the axle limits of a 3/4 ton truck, the the gooseneck / 5er (3000 pin weight 12000 trailer weight) will put you well over long before you hit the towing limit.
Empty toy haulers are much heavier (pin / tounge weight) then other trailer FYI, once you load the toys then even out closer to normal trailers.

Howdy All;

Don't want to rain on anyone's Wheaties or Cherrios ...
has anyone considered what an Insurance Co. would say
after an accident, when they look at the Gross weights,
(they won't be carring about the 7,000 lb. overload springs
or any other alterations, unless it benefits them), and see
that you were real close to max. then they'll do an 'estimate'
based on "industry standards", to determine that you were
"at fault" due to being overweight and they won't pay.....

I'd much rather be several hundred pounds under than near
or over. Besides, my truck likes me better for not making it work
it's heart out every mile the Trailer is hooked to it...
