Montana 2014 3582RL Closet Hanger Bar

The top closet hanger bar is screwed into the closet ceiling with very short
screws. I am not sure if the screws penetrate into anything like a frame. We lost the right side of the hanger after all the screws pulled out of the thin ceiling paneling. Is there anything I can screw into up there? I tried a longer screw (about one inch) but didn't hit anything. I will replace the bar with a strong hanger bar and a vertical support piece on a side of the center cabinet. This appears to be a very weak design if the only thing holding the closed hanger bar is 1/4 inch paneling.

It might take a bit of work, but you could add a ¼" by cutting a piece of ¼" ply 4" x 4" finish how you prefer, even if you get wall paper to match, glue this to the spot where you hanger pulled out let it dry. Now you have ½" to attach the hanger. You might have to cut ¼" off the rod is all. You can make the plywood as big as you like, it will just add strength to that portion of the wall.
IF you want to keep it simple, you could by an expanding wall anchor and reattach your hanger again.
