Slide cable replacement.

I have a 2000 3280RL Montana.
The slide cable under the kitchen slide out has frayed.
Where can I find this replacement part?

If I'm not mistaken, someone posted on here a while back that Amazon sells them. Hopefully someone will come along shortly and confirm and maybe have a link.

Yes you can buy them on Amazon, I will get the link and post later. Also beware you have to buy an odd sized crimper as the crimps for that size cable are not a "normal" size.

I would be interested in the crimper. I bought a couple of cables for backup and a crimper... but can't tell if the crimper is the correct size. It has three notches in it, however none look correct.

I have watched the videos from Accu-Slide, however they don't say exactly the size.

Here are the links,
Cable Set:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Smaller less expensive crimper then the "bolt Cutter" style:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Small "Aircraft Cable" cutters to keep in the emergency repair kit:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

For the crimps I do not remember exactly what size of those holes is the right one for the crimps but I do remember when I was looking for the crimps I searched the specific size because I found most crimps did not have the size needed.

According to the Amazon site, the duplex oval crimping sleeve is for 1/16" cable......so a pretty safe assumption is the cable is 1/16".....unless it's bad information.

And if that's the case, the crimping tool in the second link doesn't have a setting for 1/16"

It is funny I came across this thread. I have a couple of the cable kits that I purchased a year ago. I also bought a crimper/swager at the same time. The swager I bought was the "often bought together " recommendation, however I always thought it wasn't the correct one.

This led me to start digging deeper. Here is what I have found:

The cable size for the slides is 5/32". I measured mine with calipers AND the BAL video says that is the size.
The oval sleeve in the kits seem loose to me. The sleeve in the BAL video appears to fit tighter around the cable, although it is hard to without a close-up shot.
The oval sleeve that Amazon lists as an "often purchased together " with the cable kit is the SL1-2 which is for 1/16" cable. That is wrong.
Due to possible terminology conflicts (not knowing how oval sleeves are "sized"), emailed Loos and the confirmed my thoughts. SL1-5 is the correct oval sleeve for 5/32" cable.
I ordered a variety of oval sleeves and will compare them with the one that came in the repair kit and the cable. (I'm curious how the cable "fit" is in the sleeve.)
Once I determine the EXACT oval sleeve, I will buy the correct Loos swage.

Thanks for the info!

Slide cable replacement.

OK. Got my oval sleeves in. The correct sleeve definitely is the Loos SL1-5 for 5/32" cable. The oval sleeve that comes with the BAL cable repair kit is either the incorrect size or it is just sloppy on tolerances. I'll be using the SL1-5 when I need to do a repair.

Always liking the correct tool for the job, I will bite the bullet and purchase one of two swage/crimpers: the 0-5/32-SC (dedicated 5/32 oval sleeve swage) or the #1-SC (multi-compression swager for 1/16, 3/32, 1/8, 5/32 and 3/16 oval sleeves).

loosnaples.com has a lot of great info.

Amazon is a good source for these parts. One thing though, you should ignore the "Frequently bought together " list. In the case of the cable repair kit, it lists a swage and sleeve. Those items may have been bought by other folks (often enough to generate that recommendation), however they don't go together. The Lehigh swage does not do 5/32 and the SL1-2 is a tiny 1/16 sleeve and not a 5/32 sleeve.
