Water pump issue on cougar

Hey everyone, got some issues with my water pump. Wondering if you guys might have some ideas to help me out. I'm leaving on Tuesday and need to fill water in my tank.

What's happening is when I fill water and turn the pump on it shoots water out the city water connection. Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks in advance !

There is a spring loaded one way valve in the city water connection. It is either dislodged or broken. Look in the city water hookup and you'll see a screen, pull it out and there's a plastic "pin" looking thing, Push on it gently and see if it will reseat, if so, that may repair it.

Not to worry, if you can't get it fixed, don't cancel your trip, you can go to ACE hardware and buy a 3/4" hose plug and screw it into your city water port to block the leak until you get back home after your trip. You'll just have to remove the plug to use the city water connection.

Good luck

Thanks JRTJH. I will try that out. I thought about a plug, but was wondering if it might hurt something. Thanks for the help.

If you can find a check valve that will screw into the fresh water port, that will work also. I believe they are usually available in the big stores where the irrigation supplies are located. If they are there, the plastic ones will work as well as the brass ones. That way, you can operate normally with the water system.

Using a plug is a good idea. Going to get one to carry 'just in case'. Could prevent a spoiled trip. I would add that you should be sure to get a plug with 3/4" HOSE thread not pipe thread.

Got it fixed. Just had to pull the screen out of the city water connection and push on the white plastic pin. Seems to work now. Don't know why I didn't try that first.

I did get a plug, just incase it should act up while we are away. There is only one place we need the water tank anyway but good to have. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. Much appreciated.
