Wanted: Honda Generator

Looking for a 2000 Honda Generator in good condition. I boondock a lot and have solar but at times a generator would be handy. Just traded rigs and old one had a built in generator new one does not. Thanks

I have 2 EUI 2000s I'm considering selling 1 or both. Not certain yet. Will keep you in mind.

There are other viable options. Yamaha and Champion make good inverter generators without the cost premium.

I agree. I bought a Champion 3100 generator last summer and used it at deer camp during the fall. Was 1/3 the price of a HOnda EU3000, has the wireless start option, runs super quiet, and it handled all our needs. I've seen the 2000 watt variety on sale before around$400...a tremendous savings over the Hondas and Yamahas IMO.

Champion 2800 weighs 48+ lbs, Champion 3100 weighs 83+ lbs.
Honda eu2000i weighs in at less than 46 lbs. Much easier to wrestle in and out of pickup bed and 5th wheel basement. My buddy and I bought a eu2000i and a 2000 for each of our tow-behind rigs and carried them to Alaska and back. Only problem either of us had was his ran a bit rough at one of the high altitude campsites.

I have used it 2 seasons, coming up on our third, it starts on the first pull most of the time and will run my 15K BTU AC unit just fine.

I am almost 63 years old and can load and unload it from the pickup bed by myself.

I think it is a great alternative to the Honda & Yamaha units at over a buck a watt.

Where do you figure $1 per watt? Even at Honda's higher prices, they are $0.50 per watt. An EU2000 is $1,000.

I think his math was wrong. Even so, for those on a budget who are looking for value (and at less than a quarter per watt), these Champions are hard to beat no matter the size.

When I was looking at gens ( circa 2008) Honda generators in this part of the country were $1.00/watt. One reason I bought a Kipor 3500 inverter gen for 650 shipped to my door.

No doubt the Champions are a lot cheaper and provide value. I was just wondering about the $1 per watt statement. I have seen that number before and wasn't sure where it was coming from.

How's it holding up after 9 years?

Battery for electric start went dead from non use. It will start and run with pull start, only has about 50 hrs total time.

Bought it for our road trip and now it sits under the workbench with stabil in the tank and started every few months.

Thanks every body I will start looking at Champion . I am not stuck on name brand so it does not have to be a Honda.

If you are considering Champion, savings on a new "yellow" unit will be greater than anything you'll find used in "red".

OK, I might be off a bit, but I was comparing the EU3000 to the Champion 3100 and when I was looking 2 + years ago they were around $3K.

I believe the list on the Honda is ~$2400 - $.77/Watt

My Champion was $699, shipped to my door.

Yeah, prices have changed a bit. An EU3000is is right at $2k... which is $0.67 per watt.

I have one EU2000 and will get another... which is $0.50 per watt.

Even if I was getting a 3000 watter, I would get the Honda. The quieter operation is with the extra money to me. The EU3000is is amazingly quiet.

These champions are contenders though. Mine is comparably quiet. At a $1300 savings for a couple of decibels, don't know if I could be persuaded otherwise. It runs in my garage at a whisper on eco mode.

How many hours can you run a Champion for non-stop?

I've recently bought the Champion 3500. Easily runs my 15K a/c and has remote start. I love it. My neighbor has a Honda 3000. If it's quieter, it dang sure ain't double the price quieter!

The EU3000iS is 49 decibels at 1/4 load. That is pretty impressive. Quieter than their own 2000 watt genny.
