Source for battery cables
For those that have re-done your TT power, where do you get your battery cables, and what gauge wire do you use? I thought I remember seeing someone recommend an eBay store that does custom lengths but I can't find the post now. I'm going to have a pair of GC2 batteries, a disconnect switch, and a current shunt so I'll need a few new cables.

I started scouting for battery cables and have found them locally at Napa and Walmart so far.
I read somewhere that the cable gauge should be smaller (larger diameter) between the two 6V batteries than the cables to the TT.

Wally World or one of your local auto parts stores should have what you need.. the interconnect cable between the two batteries should be #4 gauge cable and as short as possible

Windy Nation on Amazon is amazing. Just about any length and size of cable raw or terminated. With DC, the bigger the better.
If you plan to do solar, double this recommendation.

I buy mine at harbor freight. Look for inverter cables.

Check your local Mom & Pop Hardware store. Many will sell the cable you want by the foot and the terminals so you can make a custom length.

Correct on the larger gauge between batteries as it must be capable of carrying the total amperage of one battery.

I've rewired all of my 12V system and used welding cable. Any electrical wholesaler will sell welding cable by the foot. Different gauges and colors are usually readily available. Welding cable uses very fine stranded copper, so it is very flexible and easy to work with. You will need to terminate the ends yourself via mechanical or compression connectors. Another option is a car stereo store. They also carry larger gauge flexible copper cable for car stereo power wiring. Possible options if you have these types of stores nearby.

I wanted good quality tinned and crimped cables. They're neat, compact, professional looking, and reliable. I got mine at http://www.bestboatwire.com. You can order parts, or custom order them assembled, which is what I did. You can choose color, length, gauge, and terminal type. I went with 2ga and paid about $140 for all the cables I needed when I upgraded to 2 6v Trojans and a new converter.
