Gray tank overflowing

Happy New Year.

I have a 2023 Bullet. I have two 30 gallon tanks. The one for the shower fills very quickly and starts overflowing onto the ground. It does not back up into shower. Its been to the dealer 4 times and they say this is the way it works and to watch the tank levels. Keystone was contacted and said this is the correct.

Welcome to the forum

First off that is NOT RIGHT!!! did your dealer claim they contacted Keystone and they said thats the way it was intended?

Sorry but someone is flat out LYING to you. Waste water CANNOT leak onto the ground at all, it MUST be drained into an acceptable sewage system, or in some states can be drained onto the ground AFTER some steps are taken to insure it wont have any negative affects on the enviornment.

I would find another dealer.

That looks like your fresh water tank over flowing. Does it happen only when connected to fresh water? Your water pump contains a check valve to prevent this and it sometimes gets sand or debris blocking it and allows fresh water to flow into your water tank causing it to overflow out of the vent tube.

The fresh tank should be the only tank with an overflow drain. I think your being told wrong.

We filled the gray tank with fressh water to see where is drainng from. Its comming from a grommet in the tank and Keystone says thats that way its designed (BS).

It would be interesting to see a picture of that.

A small grommet on the side of the tank with a wire attached? That would be your level sensors. Tighten up the nuts to stop that leak.

The only grommet(s) I know of are on top of the tank where the drain pipe enters and the vent pipe exits. Just like at home, if your toilet or sink leaks out of the drain pipe, you are leaking and venting unsanitary water and sewer gasses into your living space. This is NOT a normal situation. It is unsafe and in most places even unlawful to drain any waste water onto the ground.

All that you have been told is correct. The idea of a waste tank (black or grey) dumping on the ground with an overflow is preposterous.

"Technically under the Sewerage System Regulation, grey water is considered sewage, and discharging it onto land, into a source of drinking water, surface water, or tidal waters is considered a health hazard."

So what does OP do? He claims he has talked to Keystone directly and they too are saying this is normal (???). Somehow I do not think we are getting the full story here. OP, can you tell us just who you talked to at Keystone who told you this was the way it was designed? I can see a bad dealer saying that but Keystone?? If this is really what an official representative from Keystone is claiming I think you need some kind of advocate and need to talk to the next level up at keystone. I would explore what Bill suggested. Good Luck.

He said that Keystone was contacted, but by whom? I suspect that the OP was NOT the one who called Keystone and is only sharing what the dealer claims Keystone told them.

Cutting right to the chase, the dealer (or at least the service tech) is outright lying. This needs to be escalated ASAP, whether to the dealer management or to Keystone directly (by you and only you so you can get firsthand information and names and job titles of those you speak with).

As of today the problem is not fixed and my TT is still at the dealer. I have talked directly to Keystone customer service 4 times. The dealer service manager says he has called numerous times. I talked to the general manager and service manger (conference call) and they now agree there is a problem. They are rewriting the service order and have submitted it to Keystone. As of this past wednesday keystone was still closed for the holidays. Pending--- Thanks

I had the same problem with my Avalanche. I now leave my gray tank open all the time, if you can’t do that, make sure to empty it daily or every other day. If it’s the same issue I had, mine is more of an over flow which is not near the handles to open / close. Yours looks really close to the pull handle, so could be a leak in the pipe. Idk.

I have the exact same problem in my 2022 2704RKWE. When the grey tank is full, it overflows into the belly of the TT. It seems to me that if it’s ‘by design’, it would overflow through a pipe to the outdoors. I was thinking that it might be that the shower drain was not properly caulked where it goes into the grey tank since it only happens when the grey tank is over full . I’m interested to hear how Keystone responds.

Shower tank leak

Keystone Cougar 21RBSWE 1995. I have the same leak issue when the shower tank is full - water leaks under the trailer. For the first two years water would back up into the shower pan when the tank was full. That no longer happens. My guess is the drain connection into the tank has opened up. It looks to me to be a difficult problem to fix. I now know I need to drain the tank at least partially after two days of showers for two of us. I have a portable tank that I wheel to a dump station with my eBike. If there is no dump station we use less water showering, most effectively my wife does not wash her hair.
