x light Cougar Remove step up in bedroom

Our Cougar light has a boxed in area along both sides of the bed platform that is about 8" higher than the rest of the floor in the room. It makes it very difficult to get into the bed as that area is only 5' high.
1. Does anyone know why this was designed this way?
2. Is there something significant that these cover?
3.Can they be removed? Has anyone tried to remove them?

I doubt they can be "removed" and I suspect they are covering something. Have you opened the front storage compartment and looked up to see if something is running into that space? You could do the same in the pass through. If not take the cover apart and look.

A signature with your year, make and model of camper and same for your tow vehicle would make it easier for folks to answer with context. UserCP, top left of each page and add your info to the profile as well. Thanks

The area where these boxes are locate does not appear to have anything coming down into the storage area. There are sewer lines and such under there but looks to be under the area where the bed frame is.

If your using a smart device, you need to scroll to the bottom of the page when you log in and choose “view full site”

If you can carefully disassemble one side, you can look and if there is anything you can put it back the way it was.

The raised platform simply boxes in the upper frame of the 5th wheel. It is present to some degree on many (most) models, but noticeable more in lower profile models since there is less height in the front area already
