Cables break by being out of adjustment or alignment.

I had a Montana 5ver that had frame flex in the front end that threw the bedroom slide frame out of wack and the cable was rubbing on the frame while the slide was in and fraying it, Keystone stepped up to the plate and fixed the frame flex, just thought I would mention it, not sure what your issue is

Where is the cable breaking. I have a slide cable that wears basically because the pulley/connection points were not installed properly. Where everything aligns fairly well the swag button on the end tilts too much when it is in the fully closed position and wears the cable at the end.

My initial fix was to retrofit a swag end that I had to the original cable and its been good since...but I always carry an repair cable as well as my own swaging tools

If you are on the road check out "swag" "crimping" tools and possibly "stops" ferrule. You probably can pick these up at Home Depot with some cable to get you working again.

Thanks that’s I’m going to do, we’re in the stop that we’re going to stay at for 30 days. The problem seems to be right at the ends

The one time that I had a cable break was because the shuttles got hung up on each other as I was bringing in the slide. I did not realize what was happening and with the amount of torque that the motor generates it broke the tightening bolt. I was fortunate to be able to do a temporary in the field fix and then had a new cable installed when I got home. In my rig I can see the complete cable action by standing on the top steps to the bedroom and I now carefully watch to make sure the shuttles are properly aligned as they pass each other. Also, I now always carry an extra cable and a crimping tool with me.
