24RKPR Upgrades/Addons/Changes

Hi All,

Here is a list of what I have done to my 24RKPR.

1) Flag Mounts. I placed two on the A Frame of the trailer. I used the standard aluminum mounts you can get from Walmart. I used three of the flag kits that are about $8 each to make two poles 8' in length. Each kit includes 3 x 2' poles.

2) Battery disconnect: Simple twist type that does not use one of the red keys. The switch came from Harbor Freight. I had to replace the standard type 24 battery box with the next larger size to accommodate the switch as it protrudes down into the box. I also installed a longer negative cable to the battery as the one that was installed was very short and did not allow me to move the battery from side to side.

3) Mount/fixture for my Alpha WiFi Camp Pro antenna. The antenna fits perfectly into PVC so I created a mount for the camera. Added holes for the USB cable to come out. The setup sits perfectly on top of my one slide out on the driver's side. The stand fits perfectly between the top of the slide and the top of the trailer and does not move. I also installed caps in the event I needed to put sand or something else in it for weight.

I run the cable down the side of the trailer and it is held onto the trailer by using the suction cup holders pictured (also from Harbor Freight). I use two of those to hold the cable onto the trailer and then run the cable into the same port the power cables goes into.

4) I guess to save costs, Keystone did not install any bed lifts on the queen bed. I installed a pair purchased from Hatchlift.com . I would like to note that I purchased the wrong kit. I called customer support and they shipped me the correct struts for free. It opens very easily now with just a finger.

5) I replaced the two LED lights over the bed. These two operated via a switch above your head while sleeping. I replaced them with two no so bright lights that operating independently with their own switch. Each light also has a very dim blue LED that lights up when the light is off to let you see where the on/off switch is located. I purchased these off Amazon for about $15/set of two.

6) I replaced the standard vent with a fan/vent combo. I got the one from FENG that has the forward and reverse so I can also bring in fresh air. This took about an hour. The hardest thing was fishing for the power to the end of the bed where the LED lights are located.

7) and 8). I replaced two of the "blanks" that were installed from the factory with regular cabinet doors that I had. They don't match exactly (color) but they allow storage in the two spaces that did not before hand. I purchased the matching hardware online. Photos are of the before and after pictures for the cabinets.

9) the wife had a hayday with her Crikit (I hope I spelled this right). She added graphics to the mirror in the bathroom, the shower door and the crapper lid. She did not tell me about the last one and it did give me a start when using it the first time.

10) I added a bookshelf PC and a blue-ray player to the entertainment cabinet. The trailer did not include any type of DVD player. They were mounted in the corner cabinet behind the TV. Both are connected to the TV via HDMI. The Bookshelf PC is very small and is laying on the shelf below the wire shelf that holds the blue-ray player. A wireless mouse and keyboard are also stored in there when not in use. The PC is a Nano PC from Foxconn.

11) I used some of the left over flag posts in the pass through. I hammered the ends flat and mounted them to the aluminum framing to hold some stuff, including my hatchet. I will make others that hold some different things that I use most often, like paper towels in a thumb screw style mount.

Lastly is the 110V outlets in the living space. Keystone did not include any outlets in this area. The only outlet was one above the counter and mounted on the wall. I can not take credit for this, i worked out a deal with the selling dealer to get these installed before I took delivery.

They tied into different existing outlets for the two (under the kitchen sink and at the entertainment center) and tied directly into the converter for the third (mounted to the left and below the converter).

They actually did a nice job, it was neatly done and work perfectly.

Here is a picture of the flags in the holders. Sorry, I only have a night picture of the flags but you will get the idea.

Also, sorry but for some reason some photos came out rotated incorrectly. I could not figure out how to fix them.

The large amber LED strip at the top is factory installed (standard option).

I also got tired of wrestling with the caps to the tanks. I have to lean under the trailer a bit to get to them so to make it easier on myself, I installed a section of aluminum on each cap with nuts and bolts. I sealed the inside so the holes would not leak.

Now I can get the caps on and off with one making it very easy.

You have done some really great improvements; wish the trailer builders would put in cabinet covers on those empty spots! Great pictures!

1. Added Wingard extension to the outside TV antenna increase channels received
2. Installed SensorPro amplifier replacing the original
3. Put in 25' 12 gauge extension cord beside water heater to plug into 20 amp outlet on Pedestal, feed out through outside shower. Use for electric heat, gives trailer 30 amp and 20 amp inputs.
4. Electric 2,500Lb hitch installed, no trouble lifting Tundra and trailer to set Spring Bars.
5. Use new low wattage lamp for TV viewing, LED's too bright.
6. Camping World supplied push in insulators for the three sky vents that help keep it dark in the morning so we can sleep in also great insulation for cold or hot weather.
7. Made cut outs of art boards that I capture between the two doors and screens on the top to keep out light in the mornings from shining through the glass.
8. Put on Tire Minder sending units to monitor PSI and temperature of tires while on the road.
9. Keep wheel covers on to protect tires while in storage
10. Keep electric jack under tarp while in storage as well as spare tire, the standard cover on the spare tire gets soaked on the inside bottom and will rot out! Electric Jacks will leak in time.
11. Do not use Barba-Q so took off bracket on back of trailer, 19 pounds saved!
12. Changed all inside lights to LED's
13. On the sixths year replaced PowerKing D rated tires with E rated Goodyear Endurance.
14. Added Electric Blanket.
15. Clear elbow for dumping, keep the Black Tank clean.

Great mods! I purchased a 30RIPR 2 weeks ago. I want to add cabinet doors to 2 blanks as well. I am also running power to the roof vent in the kitchen and installing the same fan. Since there is near zero storage in the bathroom, I want to make a pull out drawer under the bed by the bathroom door for all towels etc.

I saw a mod a while back where someone cut a hole in the under bed storage and made one side a doggie bed. They partitioned it off from the opposite side and their small dog sleeps there. I thought that was pretty clever.

I have also made some additional mods. I will get those posted as well.
