Can’t get heater to stay lit

Hey guys you have been great assisting me in the issue with slide now maybe you can assist with my suburban heater. Hooked the propane up to it let the air out of lines by lighting stove, that worked great went to turn heater on it would spark light and stay lit until the igniter would stop then poof our went the flame what might cause this issue. It’s a suburban sf-30f

could be a few things, Since it lights the most likely culprit will be the igniter/ flame sensor. after that the control board. Unfortunately the furnace needs to come out and be bench tested.

Flame sensor/igniter is located inside the furnace where the burner is. If the stove lights and stays on, then odds are the LP system is ok. Only way to verify pressure is to use a Manometer.

Yes but I have only tried it on one burner and in my opinion it’s not a big flame

Ok. Try lighting all three, then tell me what color the flames are.

When you say "reset the tank" are referring to cycling the lp tank valve? When you do that, try loosening the gas line at the tank just until you hear the gas hiss after you close the valve off. Then open the valve very slowly. light stovetop and try the furnace again.

Do you have another tank you can try? Have you tried turning the the handle to use the other tank? A yellow flame after having a blue flame tells me there's a insufficient gas issue. How cold is it there?

18 degrees makes me think the propane is freezing.

My thoughts as well. Can you take the tank inside somewhere and let it warm up (would take some time) and then try it again? That would confirm the LP freezing if it worked after getting it warmed up. Just a thought.

I did take the furnace out and inspect the igniter and looked clean nothing was plugging either intake or exhaust. Is the igniter and the flame sensor the same thing cause that is all I saw inside the chamber right above the burner

The tank will definitely freeze at some point below freezing. My first experience with it I had no idea until a guy at the RV park enlightened me (about 35 years ago). At that time I had to go buy some heater tapes and wrap them on the tank. I think they make propane tank blankets now and I think I read a post about a heater that goes under the metal tank support.

If you only have two metal “probes” it’s all in one. If there are three then two are the igniter and the third is the sensor. There’s no way to tell if it’s good by “looking at it”.

Given the apparent low gas flow with 3 burns on the cooktop burning I don't think the issue is with the furnace. Have you tried the hot water heater on gas? My guess it won't work either.
