Thanks, it seems like a light weight system that you can hook to a tree or pole to keep limber and loose. At 46 my back is needing some help, so as one other poster said, get my diet right and lose my gut, it will help my back.

Was the exercises hard to master? And easy to get a routine? The thing I don’t like about weights is know when tonad more, push through. Plateau and all that stuff. I need simple

I will also add....if you have not tried Isagenix or any other shake replacement-try it, it works. I use a product called Orgain Organic Protein. All plant based protein. Add a banana & peanut butter.
I have a shake for breakfast; eat whatever I want for lunch, than a shake for dinner.
You will loose the weight and get leaner.
Super easy.
I did it with and for my wife basically as she needed to jump start her metabolism.
Than basic strength training!

I'm not posting this to offer any medical advice, but protein supplements and protein shakes are not safe for everyone. Some people with renal (kidney) issues may find them unsafe and possibly damaging to their health.

While "most of us" are probably not going to see any problems with regular consumption of protein supplements, if you're unsure, check with your health care provider before you start any diet supplementation program. The same goes for anyone over 50 who plans a "new exercise and weight loss regimen" as a New Year's resolution. Make sure you're physically able to take on the stress BEFORE you start any regimen. Your health insurance (and loved ones) will thank you for not winding up in the hospital or the ER.....

Might also want to look at using a kettlebell. 15 to 20 lb for men and 5 to 10 lb for woman. 20 minute routine gets you cardio and muscle build. I’m 64 and been using these for 10 years.

Routines are available on UTube , etc. I carry two in basement of fifth wheel and first thing I do in the morning after a cup of java.

All kidding aside, never start any diet, supplement, or exercise regiment without discussing it with your Doctor. A professional trainer is also probably a good idea, even if just to get you started.

Certain med's are not compatible with some dietary supplements, and a general health assessment is a MUST. High BP, skeletal issues, and hidden Cardiac problems are a major concern as we age.

Another thought is that more and more camp grounds have exercise rooms complete with a wide variety of equipment.

Good Luck,

No they are not hard and gentle on the joints. They can be done anywhere.

While at home I do conventional exercise - strength training and running. We always camp near a hiking trail so I bought some decent hiking boots and a day pack. It's great to get some exercise and enjoy nature while camping. If I'm hiking alone I'll pop in some ear buds and listen to an audio book.

I've spent lots and lots of time in the woods both alone and with others. I personally would not wear earbuds and listen to anything. I like hearing the sounds of nature. More importantly, one of our best defense mechanisms is our hearing which is removed with the buds. I've encountered bears, javelina, dozens and dozens of rattlesnakes and a mountain lion....up close - some of the snakes within 2-3' or less, a sow and her 2 cubs at about 10 yards (other times as well) and the mountain lion was at about 15 yards or so - guess he got uncomfortable with me continuing to advance (I couldn't see him) so decided to move. In every case I heard them before I saw them. In some of those cases being unaware can be very dangerous. I know everyone has their own opinions on those things but just wanted to throw that out.

Edit; I forgot about the moose laying in the tall grass a few yards from me that I had no idea was there until it snorted and raised it's head.

Not so many hazards in the MO Ozarks. Only about 350 black bears statewide and while we do get occasional visits from mountain lions, no confirmed mating pairs.
I've hiked over 1000 miles through the state and have never encountered a snake of any kind on a trail. I assume the regular foot traffic causes them to avoid trails. I did encounter a couple of water moccasins while bushwacking up a creek.

Biggest danger here is feral hogs. Since 1965 there have been 2 deaths by snakebite in MO. The recent one was an idiot who was bitten by a water moccasin while wading in the river and didn't bother with the hospital. No bear or cougar attacks in over 100 years.

I also wear "open" earbuds. They aren't noise cancelling or noise isolating.

Anyone desiring a work out are welcome to stop by and take our 2 knuckle headed Brittany Spaniels for a walk. They are getting old but they don't know that when they pick up the scent of field bird, squirrel, or rabbit!

Thanks, I've taken him for a few rides to get him used to it. Our previous dogs loved camping and I'm sure this one will to. Our most recent dog (Black Lab/Rottweiler mix) was named Champ, and our family always called him Champer the Camper dog.

I'm resurrecting this thread to emphasize the point I was trying to make about earbuds and safety in the wild. Please read the next to last paragraph. The term headphones is used but, to me, it could be replaced with "earbuds".

Read that.... scary. This may sound weird, but when out hiking the lack of sound Is why I’m out there. I love Def Leopard cranked in my ear as much as anyone else, but don’t want to be deaf if a “leopard” has me on the menu.

A little unrelated, but that is why when out in the wilderness in WY is the main time my parents carry a sidearm on them (primarily for bears)
