Hello
Glad to be apart of the group. My wife and I picked up a new 2017 sprinter 353fwden early this year. First couple trips were rocky for us. Slide out bracket broke from slide wall before our first trip out, then on our 2nd trip they were calling for high winds and rain so decided to fill fresh tank to about 3/4 for more ballast (good thought initially) only to make it 8 miles before the tank decided to make its exit on a rough set of railroad tracks :banghead: . I come looking for any words of wisdom from more experienced campers that will help make our 2018 year more enjoyable. Also do any of you have a preferred site to find parks? My favorite one I’ve used are rv Park reviews. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum
Wow, what a start, hopefully all the bad is now behind you and just happy trails ahead. There are a few apps like RV parky, reserve America and Allstays. Others will add.
Lots of good people and loads of great information here.

Holy Cow!!
My thoughts having gone through lots of "stuff"....but nothing like that.
DOCUMENT everything that happens w/ pics. Establish a very close relationship with the service manager at your dealership..preferably the GM/owner (my choice). Keep a close eye on EVERYTHING and don't let anything slip by without you knowing about it. I've said it before.....I think some units are built on Mondays/Fridays and ??? happens. Good luck on getting things taken care of and DO NOT hesitate to post on this forum for help.

That's a bummer! Well...welcome to the forum! Chin up and may you make many happy memories in the future that will far outweigh your initial ones.
Another site with campground references is AAA at https://ttp.aaa.com/TripTik/# . Once there, click on "places", then on the tent icon.
I travel with Fresh Water Tank half full or so for pottie breaks and other en route water needs. Of course if dry camping more H2O required. Some fear what you experienced and travel with tanks empty.
Enjoy your RV to it's fullest!
Regards,
Mike

Welcome to the forum from Kansas City, MO! Glad you're here!
I like Google because of the review section and the ability to do a fly over with the arial view. That along with the others mentioned have led us to some great places. Slso, asking here is also a great help.

Wow! What a mishap. Welcome to the forum, lots of good wisdom on here so don't be afraid to ask questions. As for water tanks, I've never heard a service guy say I shouldn't carry water while traveling but we usually travel with ours empty, only because we don't stop and use it while traveling. If we stop its usually at a rest area or fuel stop so facilities are there for use. If we are going to a race where we dry camp then the water tank is filled, heard pros and cons about carrying partially filled fresh water tanks, pros being able to use while traveling as some have mentioned, cons being the water sloshing front to back in the tank and possibly causing extra stress on tank mounts. Personally I just do whatever I need to do for a good camping experience. So with that being said, fill your tank full or partial or leave it empty and enjoy collecting new camping experiences!

Thank you everyone for the welcome, I forgot to mention in the post the water tank was only supported by 5 1/4” self tappers my dealership took very good care of me and actually sent 2 techs out and hauled the unit back for me. We have had 6 successful trips after that unfortunate day and are looking forward to many more to come.
