Anyone change a Solera awning motor before?

I've had a slow or stalled awning motor upon battery only retract since the day I got the camper. This month it also developed a dead spot where when fully retracted I have had to on occasion start it for a turn or two with my drill, then it works. It wasn't getting stuck in the channel, there was absolutely no sound or movement of the motor until I gave it a twist with the drill.

Anyway, I called Lippert today, a month out of warranty and without asking they offered to send me a new motor.

I believe it's easy to change, crank the awning out a foot, remove the cover, then the motor and replace.

Anyone do it before?
Thanks
Bill

The motor will be a complete assembly that bolts onto the arm. It may be riveted or screwed onto the roller tube, either way it's fairly easy to change.

You might want to get a couple of large long zip ties, put them around the arm once you extend it a bit. The strut will try to open the arm the rest of the way, and you will have to remove the motor assembly from the arm. I've seen the motor wiring done two different ways, so just connect and test. If it's backwards just reverse the wires.

Motor arrived yesterday and I replaced it today...simple 10 min job.

Awning seems to work fine but I'm going to let the batteries discharge a bit before I claim victory.
