Brand Newbie

Hello All! Just checkin' in. Purchased the 27RL model of the Sprinter Campfire last month. Weeding through what needs to be put "onboard" as opposed to supplying from the house. We have our first trip planned shortly!

to the forum. As the others have said, you will find lots of great information here. We are new campers too. Just getting ready to start our second camping season. When we first started out we camped fairly local while learning what was needed. I don’t think there is a steadfast list that anyone can offer because so many things are personal preference. It doesn’t take many outings to learn what you need. Our first 2 or 3 trips were planned with shopping close by as we knew we were newbies! 😉
Best of luck and most importantly, enjoy!

As Mike10853 said a lot of it is personal preference. Some folks remove everything upon return some leave nearly everything. We are in between I guess. All the tools, chocks, water/sewer gear, blocks etc. stay in the pass through. Some bedding, kitchen utensils, pots/pans, TV cables, towels, ballcaps, a couple pairs of tennis shoes stay. I also leave razors for shaving, trimmers for beard/mustache etc. live in there too (always forgot them and ended up with 3 sets). Holding tank chemicals, spare filters for the ACs, fuses, flashlights, batteries, screws/bolts/nuts/etc. live there as well.

Determine what it is that you require for YOU to feel comfortable camping then decide what you want leave in the camper. I am almost certain you will find that you are going to have duplicates of several things in the house but we find it much easier to leave those things in the trailer instead of toting back and forth every time we come back.

A couple of things I would suggest that have really come in handy for me; a set of Magma nesting cookware. Excellent quality, takes up little space and very, very handy. I've also started using a couple of induction cookers. Very useful, quick, quiet, inexpensive and versatile. They provide another way to be able to cook without dirtying up the inside of the camper. Good luck.

Have to agree, it will take a couple of trips to really get a feel for what you need, and the induction cooker is a fantastic idea, can't beat it as long as you have the right pans.

Welcome from "The Peoples Republic of Maryland" Camp close to home and or stores to begin. Take the travel size toiletries and smaller containers of condiments to save space and weight.

Welcome to the forum from Southern MD. Enjoy. I agree with camping close to home or at least somewhere that has a W-mart or something similar nearby.

Welcome from Georgia! Write down (or text it to yourself) things you want to remember to pack or leave home for the next trip. I still do this, and we've had campers since 1998!

Thanks to all for the comments and ideas! Got to put the leash back on me to keep me away from the stores! Kiddin'! We found a camping list that we made for a trip to WSW SC on 7/4/91. It is a real jewel simply because of all the items that we listed for taking/menu, etc. It has been a number of years since we camped.....but now we will do it without the tent/ground/soaking from rain...etc.........know what I mean?! YA Hoo!
