Hello from the NW, Tacoma area

I guess I should have come here first before asking all the questions I had on what Towing rig to get. LOL I was amazed at all the help and advice I got right away. Nice camping folks here for sure!

I grew up in Southern Oregon and camped with my folks and later all over the State of Oregon. Mom and Dad lived for hunting, fishing and camping. Motels? What is that? they didn't know. So I got my great love for the outdoors from them. Dad is gone now and Mom, age 90 next month is pretty much limited to the assistant retirement place she is in. My wife & I have managed to sneak her out at least once a year and take her to Mt Hood Lodge and Trillium Lake the past 3 years. She loves that.

Moved up to the Seattle/Tacoma area 21 years ago. We love the country up here.

I've tent camped all my life until five years ago... then switched to a 2008 Forest River Flagstaff MAC _ LTD 206BH Trailer. Just last week, we traded that in on a 2007 Keystone Outback 18RS in newlike condition. Then we had to find a rig to tow it with.

As some of you know already, I am about to get a 2014 RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4X4 with a 5.7L HEMI, rear ratio of 3.92 with 49K miles on it in another post.

I'm waiting for them to have a Class IV Hitch installed before finalizing it with the bank next Monday. Very excited with new changes, new trailer, new truck (not new, but feels new).

This will all be good for my wildlife / mountain / nature photography. AND thanks so much for all the help and info... I think I'm gonna like hanging out here. Use to hang out at the Corvette forums when I owned six of them over the years... if you love the outdoors, you will like my websites:

Washington State Forest Service buys a lot of my photographs and I have my pics sold in places like Mt Rainier's Paradise Visitors Center Stores, local tourist shops etc. So as you can tell by now, I love photography, wildlife and the great outdoors, especially mountain lakes.

Attached are pics of my wife and I with the trailer we got and the truck we hope to bring home next week.

Welcome to the forum in this thread!!

Just to put a bug in your ear....those look like 20" wheels?? If so, mine tended to loosen up a bit when towing - mine does weigh considerably more though. You probably want to make sure you have a torque wrench and socket with you to check the truck and trailer when you are towing. Those also look like aftermarket wheels so don't know what impact that would have, if any.

My best friend from High School lives in Edmonton. He comes down every year to visit. Here is what we did last year:

We used to live in the Lower Mainland and did a lot of trips through that area East of Bellingham along the border. Beautiful country.

Welcome!! I grew up in Olympia and sure do miss it up there. Took a gander at your website and it looks like you are visiting lots of the same place we grew up going. We would camp at Horshoe Lake off of the Cispus loop every summer with GPA.
Have fun with your new rig!!
