I took the plunge.
I was concerned about the new bigger gas motor from GM/Chev in their HD line. The 6.0 and Allison tranny are proven. Maybe why I got the deal I wanted? Compensated handsomely for trade in. I feel good about this truck. I'm hoping this will be the one for at least 7 yrs.
Running boards, seat cover, mats, tonneau cover all fit from last truck.

Now that's is what I'm talking about, nice setup very nice. So is their any different between the SRW to DRW?

hello Big1
thank you for the comments . I didn't notice a big significant difference in handling, maybe a bit more stable. I did notice it accelerated quicker and the exhaust brake holds better but that may be due to my 18' F350 Lariat had 3.55 gears and the 19' dually has 4.10 . Only drawback now is I'm limited to certain drive thru's and carwashes.. lol . I don't think I would go back to an SRW as I feel safer pulling my 40 ft Alpine.

Yeah, and I would say the same on the gearing and been more staple.

Good luck with that!!!!!
A 6000lb+ RV hooked to a 3000lb vehicle, the math doesn't quite compute......

That’s the actual tow vehicle.
All within spec, a lot of research done on this.
Pulls it no problem.

5000lb trailer and vehicle has 7700lb of towing capability.

Thank you for the luck message.

SUV's, particularly short wheelbase ones, don't generally do well towing travel trailers, or any trailers with substantial weight and mass. They are very susceptible to 18 wheelers washing them off the road when they pass. And easy to lose control of when that happens. The longer wheelbase trucks are always your best bet. I have much experience towing and I would not advise using that vehicle to tow that trailer. Did anyone offer any recommendations about a tow vehicle when you bought your trailer?

Where Danny was going with this is your dry weight is 5056 pounds. Loaded GVWR is 7545 pounds, your max towing is 7716. That doesn't leave much wiggle room. Yeah, it will pull it, no problem, but there are more dynamics to consider. Just not the best vehicle for the task at hand. We see that a lot from folks like you who are just getting started in the RV world. Most people have no idea what they need and the sales people will pretty much tell you what you want to hear just to close the deal. Your safety is not their priority.

Congrats! Does that one have the 1000 ft-lbs torque?

Yes. That’s why it has the Aisin transmission and not the standard 68RFE

Oh yeah I wish I could see when you hook her up to your 5th wheel, don't forget to post up some pics when you do hook it up.

Hi,
I understand the concern and welcome the years of experience from all RV'ers on this forum. I haven't had any issue towing the trailer with the LR4 and have taken all precautions to be safe. I get that it looks like the car is pulling an apartment block down the freeway, that shocked me a little at first too.

All is good, the TT has been filled with all the camping accessories, food and drink etc. and still behaved when towing.

I'll let you know how it goes over time.

Once again, thank you to all for the input.

I want to use this forum for information and to not be argumentative with fellow forum users.
