Which Oxygenics Shower Head?
Hello folks,
I am contemplating the Oxygenics shower head. Currently I have the stock shower head that came with my Laredo. On ebay I see two types. The first is the white or chrome standard RV head for roughly $38. The second is the "Fury" RV head for roughly $45. Any thoughts on one versus the other???
Additionally, I saw three things watching youtube reviews that I thought I'd throw out there for comment. 1. The Oxygenics still allows a slow flow of water even with the integral valve on the head closed...wasted water. 2. Both the stock head and the Oxy head puts out the same volume of water (output test over two minutes). 3. Looks like the mount points Oxy head too much at wall/door rather than down toward person showering.
All's thoughts/experiences appreciated!
Thanks,
Mike

We have the regular and really like it. Same water usage but the pattern is different and seems to soak you better if that makes sense. There is a slow trickle but we don’t boondock so not an issue for me. I mounted ours higher and is seems to swivel and point down further than the oem head did. Actually makes it easier to get under now. We have a neo -angle shower though.

I can't say that this is "true and verified" but I've always been told that the reason for the "trickle when the shower valve is turned off" is to prevent leaving the shower faucet turned on and rupturing the shower hose. It's a pretty 'dull person" that can walk out of the shower with the "trickle of cold water" so it seems to make sense to me that it's a "designed in feature" not to waste water, but to keep us from flooding the trailer if the shower gets left on. If it completely shut off the water flow, it would be very easy to walk out of the shower, dry off, get dressed and return an hour later to a "OMG moment"....
As I said, I can't validate how true the above is, but it's what I've been told for years about that "why won't it shut off completely" complaint.....

We got rid of ours. The dribbling water was supposed to keep the water warn while soaping up, water got just as cold as the stock head. I actually did the water consumption test for 2 min. and oxygenics used about a cup less water. Ours mounted on the same mount as the stock head.
We gave ours away to a couple we know and after 2 weeks they gave it away also.
Just my 2 cents,

We bought an Oxygenics head 11+ years ago & had it in 3 different rvs.
Did it have more pressure than the original? IDK, but sure felt like!
Did it use less water? IDK, didn't care, felt better than original!
Did it dribble when shut off button pressed? Yep, never had a rv shower that that didn't.
Would I swap back to the original? No way!!

I have seen that the dribble is to maintain a positive flow for both hot and cold, apparently there is a risk of the hot water back flowing into the cold side and then scalding the user when the valve is opened back up without this "feature".
2 possible solutions to this:
Install check valves on both hot and cold to only allow one-way flow into the fixture
Put a little cutoff ball valve at the base of the hose on the fixture and you can use that instead of the "cutoff" valve on the shower head

Mike, I bought an Oxygenics head but wasn't impressed. Used it once, took it off and bought a new one like the OEM. We've been pretty happy. What kind of mount do you have? If this one would work I'd probably just send it to you so you could try/have it. It's just sitting in my tote looking at me taking up space If you can provide a pic of how yours is mounted and it looks like it will work I'll try to remember how to post a pic and take a pic of it. I don't know what "model" it was but got it at CW.

Thanks. I sent you a PM and the mounts look like they would work with the head.

We have the Fury and love it. It has the different massaging features like our old home showerhead. The only time I use the shut-off feature is when I'm shaving my legs, so I don't get soaked. We don't boondock, so I don't have to worry about water consumption. One other trick besides the Oxygenetics is to take all of the water restrictors off at each water source. We use a regulator at the water spigot to control the flow into the RV.

We replaced that one that came in our trailer with this one. We boondock and there was a huge difference in water pressure. The shutoff valve does allow it to leak cold water. We wet down, push the shutoff valve, soap up and before pushing the shutoff valve again, we aim it at the wall so that we don't get blasted with cold water. Works great. https://www.campingworld.com/bodyspa...iABEgIPvPD_BwE

That's pretty much exactly how we did/do it. And we got the same unit when replacing ours. I believe that the 'Ox' shower head sprays better at a lower flow rate than the OEM. Looks better too. Now if I could just get rid of the brass framed shower panels .

We have had both models. First the original then the Fury. Wasn’t as pleased with the Fury, so the original is back in there. Best mod I’ve done.

This shutoff valve cuts the water off completely, no trickle. Mounts just below showerhead.

On previous 5er the pathetic shower head only had a trickle. Replaced it with an Oxigenics and found much improvement. Transfered it to the Monty when we traded. Never used the original shower head in the monty so I really don't know if we needed the Oxy, but we're happy with it. Funny thing is in the old SOB the water would go cold when I hit the stop. Had to move it to the side so cold water wouldn't dribble on you while soaping. In the Monty it stays at adjusted temp while soaping. Anyway we're happy with our showers now.

I was in WalMart yesterday buying a couple of "last minute items" before our trip. I noticed that WalMart is now carrying Oxygenics shower heads in the RV section. Brushed chrome is about $36 and White is about $32 (if I am remembering correctly). They have "revamped their entire RV product line and now have LED lights, some different sewer hose selections, fittings, etc. The next time you're in WalMart, you might want to do a "dollar for dollar comparison" with the local RV Parts department.
