Front cap delamination

Has any one heard of a recall on delamination issues on 2010 passport 250bh the thing was beautiful until end of last summer. It seems just the front cap is the issue no leaks inside.

I've not heard of any recalls. Good luck.

Fix for front cap delamination

I too had a problem with my front cap and I thought it might be from moisture getting by the seal. However when the cap was removed, we could see that the material delaminated because the glue did not stay adhered to the backing and there was no sign of moisture. Certainly a manufacturing/design defect but given that it was on a 2006 trailer, we figured there was no warranty coverage (even thought the trailer has seen very little use).

We chose to replace the cap with painted sheet-metal that interlocked at 1 seam and the lower part of the front cap used diamond plate (to minimize rock dings). Hemet Valley RV in California did the work and did a great job. They also ship the panels throughout the nation. You can see a video of their process on their website.

Front cap delaminatipn

Since my initial response my 2016 has developed wrinkles on the top of the front where the Filon meets the rubber roof. I don't believe it's from water intrusion either. Just the glue coming undone. While it's supposed to be only cosmetic it reduces the value on a rig we plan to trade next year.

I too had what looked like large "dimples" on the front, top of my 15 Passport. When checked, we found water damage from a very small leak in the upper front seam. My bad, for missing that spot when caulking. Now....1600.56 later, a new front cap. They don't delaminate for no reason.

Do you remember how much it cost to replace the front cap and does it look good?

I do remember. the cap was only around 650.00 The labor was just over 800.00, so tax and all 1500.00 give or take, depending on your dealer.

mskeyspirate, where did you get the work done? Do you have any before and after pictures? Do you know how to tell if the delamination is simply cosmetic or water damage? Thanks! Joe
