The Eastern Seaboard is getting swatted !

.

Having morning coffee and watching the TV. Looks like the Eastern Seaboard is getting swatted ! All the way from Florida up to Newfoundland.

I just sit here and stay warm and safe.

We're on the western edge of the "bomb cyclone" that's moving up the eastern seaboard. This morning it was -18 but it's "warmed up" to -5, so the thermometer is headed in the right direction.

One "good thing" (if that's possible in these temperatures) is that it's too cold to snow, so clear skies and sunshine as I type this......

Of course, as a disclaimer, I'll be sitting inside most of the day and may even wait until tomorrow to go check the mailbox at the end of the road......

It's a beautiful sunny day here on the central gulf coast of Florida, BUT, at 10:30 am it is still only 46°F. Most schools are closed since many kids don't have winter coats to wait for school buses in the morning at near freezing temps. Something we northerners take for granted back home where we walked five miles up hill, both ways, in ten inches of snow, when we were kids.

Surprisingly, it's unusually warm at 47 here and cloudy, but even the light rain we had this morning has stopped.

It's chilly here in Upstate NY but with the exception of right on the coast where very high tides caused a bunch of damage, no worse then any other winter where the media didn't hype --- winter. For sure the winds blew(and still are) - and snow flew --- it's winter. It gets cold and it snows here in the Northeast. Even when I lived in a town Southwest of Charlotte, NC on the border of SC, it got cold and --- snowed. Media hype makes it worse. As far as schools closing here - nah. They just started an hour late due to that 'massive'' 2" snowfall. The only thing that upsets me is that living in the middle of a small cul d sa, we get a 2 to 4 foot pile of snow plowed in the end of the driveway and I need to fire up the snow blower'

Do we need some 'climate change:

I was reading some news the other day and it mentioned some area in S FL that cancelled 2 days of school due to cold weather because......the kids didn't have coats! I think the highs were in the 40s..

I saw that on one of the news sites today -here mommies back their cars out and take their en titled kids to the bus stop - and in this case, max. a couple hundred feet ( dang it, now you got me going)

Most of Long Island, NY received between 12 and 15 inches of snow. Right now it is 11 dgrees outside. First thing I checked was my trailer cover and it survived the blizzard-like conditions. Can't wait for spring!

To me, the most frightening thing I've seen is the flooding around Boston. The news photos of cars, in the street, frozen in 18" of water.... I'd imagine that they will be "mired in solid ice" until spring. That certainly doesn't bode well for insurance and is definitely more "inconvenient" than being stranded with the car in the garage until they plow the road..... Sometimes it looks "bleak" where we are until we see what others are facing.

Now, the kids without jackets in 40F temps and school cancellations ??? That's over the top. We used to walk to school in Key West in 50F temps without a jacket, uphill, through sand, both directions LOL
