Traveling with a Samsung Fridge and Lithium report (blow by blow)

Here is a screen shot after 30 minutes of towing with inverter running fridge

I'll post another when I stop again.

I did a bit of tracking on my Norcold 2118 that I had switched over to TWIN 12VDC compressors. One compressor takes care of the fresh food section, and the other compressor takes care of the freezer section. So with that setup, there may be one compressor running and the other not running, or vice versa, or both running at the same time.....which you would typically see on startup and getting the fridge cooled down.

We went through just under 37 AH of battery for 6 hours of usage. That works out to 6.16 AH every hour. For a trip of 10 1/2 hours, the same as yours, it looks like the AH consumption would have been 6.16 times 10.5 for a total of 64.75 or let's say 65 AH. I also use a Victron shunt for monitoring and I really like how accurate it is, based on voltage readings taken with my Fluke meter and my clamp on ammeter.

What size is your Samsung fridge?

Exactly why I switched to Lithium batteries over lead acid

What surprised me was the inverter draw while supposedly idling .

Wish I'd have captured that screen
Suffice to say that I will never just leave the WFCO inverter on while on shore power.

Also I was/am very pleased with the Progressive Dynamics Converter and may soon switch to their inverter as well.

Thanks, I went overboard with the wiring, busbars, fuses and cutoffs but it was fun.

Nice job Javi.....LFP batteries are awesome, and having a way to count the AH out and back in is a very nice feature too.

In roughly 10 hours of continuous running the Samsung fridge and the hydraulic pump used 77.2 Amp hours from the 200 Ahs I now have available.

This quickly demonstrated in real time what I surmised from previous trips with the two Group 24 Continental hybrid Deep Cycle batteries that were installed in my trailer. After an extended drive like this, I would have to connect to shore power before using the level up system or putting the slides out because of battery voltage below 12 volts (usually 11.5 volts or less) and risk of damage.

The two group 24 batteries were approximately 170 amps if in proper parallel and the OEM set up was far from being in parallel; loosely connected together but not parallel. Which resulted in the one battery hooked directly to the inverter discharging long before the other..

I now have the peace of mind that I can travel all day and use the hydraulics as intended or spend a complete night without being caught flat footed.

Now on to the fuse and breaker issue

Still need to put the wire supports in, but it is just too hot after lunch.

Nice progress. On the battery in the foreground; looks like copper wire in-between the 2 black cable connections? Hard to tell when blowing up the pic but it looks like a space between the terminals. Just a suggestion, when I connect two cables like that I place the 2 terminals "back to back" so the straight part of the terminals touch one another. I know this doesn't apply to your install but on a battery box with a lid it makes it easier to position the cables parallel, resulting in a lower profile and less bending of the cable to give a little more clearence for the lid.
