Help with A/C on new Passport 175BH

Hello all,

In November I picked up a new 2018 175BH; It's got one Dometic 13,500 BTU ceiling A/C. I know I did a thorough preflight/walkthrough during acceptance, but now with the unit's first use of the summer, I found that the A/C (and fan only) work on LOW and HI setting; the middle setting produces a "hum" but no fan.

I just set up an appointment for servicing for a recall (different story), and let the service center know I had this A/C problem. He quickly said, "There is only a LOW and a HIGH setting, no medium." This doesn't make sense to me, as I can still hear the hum of a motor in the second position.

Can someone clarify this unit's operation?! I am attaching a photo of the sticker.

Along the lines of operation, does the thermostat on the wall have any bearing on the A/C? or is that just for my LP furnace? (There is a hot/cold rheostat knob on the ceiling unit).

I find ALL the operators manuals to be severely lacking!

Thanks for any help.

I just bought a new Dometic Brisk II that I will be installing this weekend and it has two fan speeds. If the controls (knobs) are on the unit itself, the thermostat plays no part in the operation of the A/C unit....just your furnace.

Thanks. Thought so.
...Are the two speeds like mine? In the first and last position? It seems odd they would be a three-position switch, and like I mentioned, make some sort of hum in the middle selection.

I'm not sure. I bought the Brisk II that will be controlled by a wall mounted thermostat since it's going in the garage area of my Toy Hauler and is over the bed. I would have to use a step-stool and stretch way out to be able to reach the controls if they were on the unit.....thus the wall thermostat

I will be installing my secondary unit on Friday, It's non ducted and has the ADB with the switches. I'll get back to you after the install and let you know if it has three speeds.

The motor in my new Brisk II is wired for three speeds (leads coming out of the motor are labeled low, med, and high), but the control box that I have, Part# 3313191.000 is only capable of controlling two speeds.....so the answer to your question is....I guess it depends on which which model control box you have which is where the motor/capacitor/power leads all go to.

A/C speeds

Thanks guys. I will check out what leads come from my motor, and see where they go.

I appreciate the follow up by all!
