Bear in mind that when hanging anything on an outside wall, it may not be as thick as you think. "Measure twice", as they say!
On one of my previous Toy boxes I had a heavy 3D mural that I wanted to hang. My solution was to drill thru the wall from the outside. I then used a carriage bolt painted white to go from the outside thru the wall. An O ring or silicone sealant workes fine for weatherproofing. The bolt head is barely noticeable, and by using this method, I spread the point of contact over a larger surface area. I towed for several years, over some pretty cra**y roads with no problem.
Another alternative would be to take down the piece while towing.
Good Luck,
