Water Filter Where is it?

We have a 2012 Montana that we brought home on Dec 21, and I'm looking for the water filter. I don't see any reference to one in the owners manual.

Does the Montana have a built in water filter?

To my knowledge, none of the Keystone brands have a 'built-in' water filter system.
On Edit: Oooops sorry - I stand corrected - apparently some have them.

I quickly skimmed the Montana features & options, but didn't see it listed.

As an added note - the Keystone Owners Manual is fairly non-specific... any added/special features
on your particular RV would most likely have separate manuals from that manufacturer.

Hope this helps,
Terri, the Chevy co-pilot

My Apline 3500RE has a water filter for the separate drinking water tap. It's hidden down below and beside the sink behind a luan panel. Also in there is the converter, and the electrical panel. *hope it never leaks*

If you have a separate drinking water tap at the sink, look under the cabinet to trace where the water pipe for the tap goes. Once I located mine I found there was a spacer in the water line and the filter was bolted next to it. I had to remove the spacer and install the filter.

If your rig has a "drinking water only" filter, it will most likely be under the sink in some manner. As X-Treme points out, his is behind a panel. Others may not be. Drinking water only filters almost always feed a separate faucet. But the cartridge does need to be changed once in a while so it has to reasonably accessible and reachable.

Whole trailer (or whole house ) filters are usually located somewhere very near the city water hookup if they are installed in the trailer. Plumbing goes in several directions almost immediately beyond the city water hookup so it's the logical place to be located. Whole trailer filters need to be changed fairly often so the unit should be located where it is visible and easily reached.

Rather than permanently installed in the trailer, I prefer to place my whole trailer filter at the campgrounds water hookup along with the pressure regulator. That way, the hose is also protected against sediment, odor, bad taste, etc. I have a residential filter holder that I modified by installing garden hose fittings on the inlet and outlet. I also added some stainless steel hook eyes so that it can be easily hung from a small rope or chain

My Hornet has a drinking water tap and a filter located under the counter behind a set of drwaers and is not easy to access.

I used two male fittings on mine and made up a 2' section of white hose with females on both ends, but this one is good too. You'd still need a very short section of hose to locate the filter at the spigot. I put ss eye hooks on mine - there were some holes in the top that were perfect for that - but you could just use a short bungee to hang the thing from the spigot.

The housings also come in opaque versions, but work identically.

Montana water filter

On our 2009 Big Sky, we have the convenience center, located in the basement, driver side. On the left side of it, as you are looking at your valves, etc., is a door, behind which is the filter. It is a whole house type but only filters water when run from spigot to fixtures. If you use the fast fill feature to fill your holding tank, it doesn't.
