New to Fifth Wheels

Hello everyone, my name is Jim and I have been looking around this forum for the last couple of days and learning a lot. I am a long time camper from tents to tent trailers to travel trailers. My wife and I are currently waiting for our first fifth wheel to arrive, hope to take delivery in the next couple of weeks. We are waiting on a 2014 Avalanche 360RB. We are looking forward to moving on the the new camping life style.

Some people say that once you move to 5er you don't go back, the amout of bed space losted is well worth it in trade for ease of backing I tight spots ,tow ability and storage. Congrats on the new unit.

Congratulations on the new fifth wheel. Just curious, what hitch did you decide on?
We are also new to 5ers this year and have been out once. It is a different experience towing as opposed to a TT. I'm still working on the backing up part, but I'll figure it out, sooner or later.
Good luck and enjoy your new rig!

ConGrats on the new home on wheels, but as noted by a previous posted that's a lot of 5er for the 2500. With a gross of 15.5K you may well be seeing pin weight in the 3K range. Take care and drive safe

I thought about the weight a lot before making this decision, one of my main factors with going forward with it is that my dad and I pretty much have the same truck and their fiver weight is also about the same, he has has zero problems pulling back and forth to Arizona to Washington. I even had the chance to pull his rig on a 300 mile move and there was plenty of power to go and stop. Thanks everyone!

Wishing you all the best. On a side note, we're not talking about the power to pull the 5er as much as the pin wieght and combined towing capacity. Happy camping and safe travels

What is this pin weight and combined towing capacity you speak of? Just kidding, yes all of that was taken into consideration, thank you.

Enjoy! Don't be surprised if you sleep in your new rig for a few nights when you bring it home! That's what we did! They are so awsome.
