Hot Water heater Problem

Read most of the post and no answer for my problem...

The Gas on the Hot Water heater comes on only when lite externally [as in match or such] but only for about a second or two...The factory igniter clicks but no spark... Where is the thermal coupler?, doesn't seem to be any on this 07 Cougar or is the igniter also a sensor...My main problem is the gas to the burner.. I can deal with the other stuff....

Not my first rodeo as have 3 RVs now..
Also should say that had problem getting any gas to anything but now everthing is workin OK except the hot water heater ....

What am I missing here????

Check the orifice after the gas valve on the water heater. If you haven't used the rig in awhile it could be clogged with spider webs. Don't ask me why but they love to get in around that orifice for what ever reason. Take it out and look through it, other than the valve that is the only other restricted area in the heater. Happy Campin....

Ok there is no thermal couple on the electric fired heaters, that black control with the one wire going to the sparker controls the complete gas side of the heater. the sparker should keep sparking as long as there is fire if not the gas shuts off. Just had to replace the control in a friends motorhome for the same reason. Approx. $100

X2 on checking the burner tube for bug or cobwebs. It doesn't take much to disrupt the gas flow in the tube. Easy fix if that is the problem.
