Sometimes crooks and bears act alike. If they found food in your garbage they just might come back again for more until they are stopped.

I met with my adjuster yesterday, he's recommending I hook up my camper and towing it two hrs away to Wilmington to take it to a shop there for my repairs. He is based out of Wilmington because our area doesn't have a camper claims rep.

There is a camper world across the street but they are booked until Apr, so I would have to wait over a month.

Camper world recommended a local mobile RV repair service that I called, they can replace both doors and fix the damage inside. But they don't repair any wiring or replace tv wall brackets or TV's.

I'm sure I could rewire most of what was cut and mount the tv brackets and tv's but is there any other draw backs to using a mobile service? My guess would be once he had the parts and made an appointment to come repair then I would have his full focus until the job was done.

Thoughts about towing 2 hrs to a custom RV shop vs waiting for camper world vs mobile rv repair?

Also, if I had to tow two hrs away I would have to remove my mud tires and put my hwy tow tires on and remove my truck bed cap. If I was towing accross the street to camper world I would have to remove my bed cap but I could leave my e rated mud tires on.

For the mobile guy I could leave my tow truck as is for a couple more months until our first camping trip.

Like car repair due to an accidental insurance can't force you to use a specific repair place. As long as the repair place's prices are in line you can use any one you feel is convenient. I know I can mount TV's and fix wires but I know I'd get more and more ticked off as I did the work.

Wow you think the local police would have checked the storage area for a few nights after.

Good luck with the repairs.

I chose to go with the local repair guy, he is still waiting on my doors to arrive.

I have to find and order the Tv mounts, Tv's, Blue ray players and sound bar.

I found everything except the tv mount for the living room and bedroom. The living room I'm thinking any mount that moves in and out and allows the TV to turn from side to side will work.

My bedroom Tv was mounted on the right wall so I need to find a specific mount that attaches to the right instead of behind the Tv.

Still waiting for my doors to come in and my adjuster said the check for all my electronics is in the mail.

Also received a letter from the District Attorneys office that both men that broke into all the campers have been caught and gave me the court date and case number if I would like to attend.

You got that Right!!

Hello hdrolling…

I just read this thread and I’m glad the scoundrels are out of commission!!! No need to worry about Progressive Insurance they’re Good People. Turned a Claim in on my Polaris Ranger and they were very fair..
So if you do any/all of the work on your door be sure to tell them…they just might compensate you, for your efforts…

Have a Great Day

Door replacement

I had the same issue in Dec 15 (see pics) took about month and a half to get new door and frame installed. What took the most time according to dealer was waiting for the decals. I also lost all the TVs and electronics as well as DVDs and anything not nailed down.

Sorry to hear, the good news is I received my check for all my electronics so I can order them and the mounts now.

I haven't heard from my repair guy on the status of the new doors but until I get the mounts in I'm not worried about it.

If your time allows, I would attend that court date on the criminals.

Jeffrey, I'm glad that "Progressive" finally greased your palm. I guess these things take time. Hopefully your search for television mounts will go quickly. Lord knows there's a ton of them to search through.

Thanks, the garage mount I have definitely found with the help of other forum members.

The other two ,I know now from help and pics from other members, that just about anything will work. I'm going to take a chance and order the mounts from Trekwood.

They list a 46" inch Tv mount but have no picture for reference. They also list a 32" Sony mount and a 40" Sansui mount.

The 32" mount does have a pic that looks similar to the the pics that other members posted. Except on the part were the TV mounts to the mount has a lower lip. If I went with that mount I could cut the lower lip off and it would look just like the mount I had with the 32" Tv in the bedroom.

Here are the pics of the actual mount and the pic from Trekwood of their 32" Tv mount.

Update:

After A long wait the two doors are finally here, getting installed Tue!

Garage TV is installed and here is the new 50" 4K I installed in the main area. My repair guy is still going to put replacement paneling behind it to cover the holes but I wanted to do the measuring for where I wanted the new TV since it's a little bigger than the OEM set.

Still have to have the repair guy make and install the mount support for the bedroom TV.

The DA will handle the criminal side of this issue.

Suggest you get all the suspects identifying information in the event you choose to file a civil case against them for reimbursement of money spent and property lost.

Well new doors are on, still waiting for some of the door decals and the interior paneling to fix the holes where the tv's were ripped out of the wall but it's progress!

Sad to hear. Live in a small city, 75000 and all 'group' storage places were hit in the same night. Johnson's RV (where our new TT was in being fixed), Christies RV, and three outdoor storage areas. Two dozen trailers hit just next to ours at the dealer where they pried and broke our door. Nothing taken. Many other TT hit at other places. Ours has had a $1200 door fix, pain in the rear. It seems where the trailers congregate for storage, fenced or not attracts thieves. Not sure what I'm saying, just venting is all. Maybe the door handle grip that swings out can be modified when it is closed over the door with a lock but then they would break that and there would be structural damage to the body as well as the door.

It happens, proper cameras and placed where they are seen and also hidden helps. Along with fences. lights etc. But, bad guys have always gone into the storage areas and taken motors off boats, items at of RVs. Really some steal what they know they can easily sell. Then there are inside jobs were bad employees or their friends come in at night. Before I got into police work, I worked selling guns at a sporting goods store. The store had break ins at night. They hired security to patrol and check in the store. 2 weeks later the police responded to a hidden alarm. They found the uniform security guard holding a bag of handguns he had removed, exiting the building. Theft is terrible anytime and much more common in area's of high illegal drug use. Here police check craigslist and pawn shops daily, in is a full time job for det.s
