There's a hurricane app available for those interested. Search "Hurricane".

We're keeping an eye on it. Supposed to turn north. How much depends on the high pressure to the north of it. Hopefully stay out at sea.
It's bad already.

Hopefully...the Euro and GFS models both show it turning north as it approaches FL.

GasBuddy is my buddy, but I think I would get gas now, secure my property early and get out of the way before the roads clog. Both models currently agree that US landfall will be in the Miami area. This looks like its going to be a nasty one.

To put Irma (not so) La Douce into perspective, I have a cousin who lives on St. Martin just east of Puerto Rico. The forecast wind for midnight Pacific time tonight is 300 degrees at 140 kts, gusting to 160 kts (184 MPH). I would guess that there would be a pretty dramatic storm surge, too, depending on where the eye passes. Right now, it looks like the eye will pass about 30 miles south of the island. Not good.

I think on our local TV station weather report, they were saying that it was producing 43' waves and there were wind gusts at 225mph.

A cold front and high pressure building in the southeast may be enough to keep it out of fl. Looking better for us in central fl this morning, but not letting my guard down just yet.

Currently a Cat 5, forecast to be a Cat 3 (111-129 mph) when/if it landfalls in southern FL.

Well, some may have evacuated FL and made it to my part of TX! I was heading back home from Lubbock TX today and I saw an RV up ahead; nose down, truck bed down, swaying with the W TX breeze (about 25mph). As I got closer I saw that it had a regular PVC sewer pipe built to it so someone was full timing in it. As I began to pass I saw the FL plates which is unusual here. The truck had its flashers on (going about 40 mph) but the trailer lights didn't work. It was an old GMC 1/2 ton with no WDH or sway and he was gripping the wheel hard. At least it was a Jayflight and didn't have a slide on the driver's side so maybe it was pretty light.

It struck me that it might be from one of the fishing villages we like to frequent when we are down there because so many folks live in little RVs like that with a permanent sewer drain built on. The folks even looked like the fishermen we live among down there. The old truck with no sway would be right too because they don't move the trailer.....usually. Anyway, they may be on their way "out here". If so, I wish them the best and hope all goes well in the next few days.

I saw something very similar yesterday on either US90 or I-10. Was wondering where they were from and where they were going. Looked just like an old fish camp set-up.
