Who are we when the camp fires are out?
Just to see what interests some of us may have in the "Off" season.
I am not a full time camper. Living in Southern New Jersey Id say April / May to October then its put up.
In my Off season I Like to Shoot Clays with my son sometimes and We also take our quads out and hit some dirt pits or trails.
I have a 2005 LTZ 400 he has a 2016 Raptor 90.
We don't get to do it as often As I would like but it does hold us over until Camping season.

Well there is no “off” season out here for me. When DW and I first got together we loved going to the local park and waking up to a fog thick enough that your next door neighbor was “worlds” away. Don’t do that much anymore with grandkids and the park being taken over with LOW income residents.
Most weekends you can find me in the driveway/garage working on somebodies auto.

Living in a rural, semi-boonie environment we ride the ATV’s locally, shoot and cut firewood. I also fly for a county sheriff aero squadron and do a little flight instructing.
“Camping” is just part of the equation, not life’s major focus, so we survive without the season.

Work 50 hour weeks still, and the DW is constantly volunteering me to do stuff... I used to live for hunting, fishing, hiking, and archery competitions all over the USA... A couple of physical issues including a stroke left me out of most of those things, did a little coaching in archery until the physical stuff got me...
I do still wet a hook now and then, but really all I do nowadays is work and camp... and in Texas it's year-round.
Camping is mostly sitting around the fire if there is no burn ban.. thinking about all the adventures I had when I could take a pack and disappear into the mountains for a week or two at a time.. seen and done a bunch and I still got the memories... blessed so far not to get bit by the Alzheimer's bug that has taken my dad and most of his family...

Really no off season as we store the trailer in an all year park in northern Michigan, go every other weekend. DW and I still work full time, love to go the range and try to be sharpshooters. She beats me hands down, ( oh did i say that?) Hunt, fish and enjoy time with our grand sons!

We're probably a little backward from a lot of folks. We winter in FL in the RV, which may end in the next couple of years, we spend summers (April - Sept) at our house in the mountains, a condo in CO for 6 weeks or so then try to hit other areas; Branson, northern AR, AZ, UT etc. We spend the "shoulder" times (spring - 1-2 mos., fall 1-2 mos.) at our TX house. With the exception of the winter trip and a few week long trips during the year, we spend our time in our homes or a condo.
Wherever we are my wife will be carving, crocheting or knitting. I like to fish wherever we are and enjoy shooting sports. The shooting has pretty much diminished to handguns at my shooting "spot". Although I have plenty of long guns they closed all of the ranges anywhere close where you could shoot them. I spent all my life hunting birds, deer, elk, etc. but the last infection in my leg took out a lot of "leg" so I don't traipse across the hills/mountains anymore.

Spent 33 years supporting our warfighters by developing and providing them the best weaponry in the world...retired in 2011. Also spent considerable time coaching hundreds of kids in baseball (t-ball to traveling teams, 6 to 15 y/o), and leading other boys in BSA.
Now spending a considerable amount of time volunteering in Search and Rescue with my K9 partner Jeter. My SAR team averages a search a week. Training consumes 20+ hours a week!
Build handicap ramps for needed persons at no charge via the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).
Been an Extra Class Ham Radio operator since 2006...great hobby and supporting emcomm to local community.
Just recently got into RVing this past summer with only three short trips so far. Waiting for my DW to also retire so we can do some considerably longer trips!!!
BTW...thanks for starting this thread. Looking forward to hearing all's backstories and interests!!
Regards,
Mike

Full time marine mechanic. Wife works for a company that prints their own newspaper, but also runs a very large press that prints papers for others. Also have a side business shrink wrapping with a partner.
Got into trailers 5 years ago and would spend all winter skiing in my first (86 Komfort Lite). Learned some hard lessons especially for application. Here trying to improve the life of our new(to us) rig. Eventually would like to move to a 5er. Next big purchase for us is the TV though. Current trailer needs to last.
We ski and boat (wake surfing mostly) as our two main hobbies. I like to mountain bike as well. Not her thing though. Hoping to one day be able to just travel in our rig. We are both young so a long ways from that point in our lives.
PS been able to pick up most acronyms so far but DW keeps eluding me.

I'm working full time as a manager in commercial/industrial/marine real estate. I enjoy spending time with our two grandsons (2 and 6), and plan some trips with them in the TT next summer. I have far too many other hobbies, such as bonsai (have about 80) stained glass art, woodworking, gardening and home renovation.

We just started camping 3 years ago and love the challenges it brings. When the season ends, we visit the Grands a lot. I still work and love my job, so I guess I've not worked for 11 years now. Recently we've started looking for property in Branson to retire on.
