Grand touring 2670BH. Slide topper
What's your thoughts on adding a slide topper to this model ? The slide flange is close to the the top of the tt and only a few inches below the gutter , and I'm not sure how much fall there will be on the topper when extended and if rain will run off . Has anyone installed their own topper ? Was it difficult ?

You should have three inches from the top of the slide trim to the topper rail. They are not difficult to install, but I would recommend getting help from someone who has done it, or at least watch a few youtube videos first. There are a couple of powerful springs involved.

Grand touring 2670BH. Slide topper
Look at the mounting hardware, some are easier to install. We use carefree with the tall brackets.

I think I have the same slide in my 2810. It is very close to the top of the trailer. I have seen slide covers installed on them before. I'm trying to remember if there is already an awning rail on that side. I think so. That may be where they attached/inserted the awning on the trailer side. Let us know what you decide. I've been on several trips recently that I wish I had a topper.

It's hard to describe. The part of the awning or topper that attaches to the trailer has a cord in it. The awning and cord slide into the rail/gutter. We are in a 3 day rain storm here so I can't get out to the storage lot to take a picture.

The "cord" is called the GIMP. The metal part screwed to the trailer is called the rail. I have seen rain gutters with built in rails, but more common to install the rail that comes with the topper.

I installed the dominic slide topper on my Laredo 23 RB. One thing you need is the try-grip rivet. most of the attachments for the top bar do not have anything behind them.

Is it not bad to not hit any support in the wall when mounting the rail under the gutter ? Looks like I do not have a rail installer on passenger side of the trailer

I had a slide topper installed by the dealership on my 2670 before I took the trailer home. To many horror stories about water getting into the trailer without it. My maiden voyage was Mother's Day weekend and it rained pretty heavy. The water ran right off the topper no problem what so ever. Wish I remembered the brand but I know it was the better of the two they offered. Hope this help some with your decision.

The rail has screw holes very close together so there is a LOT of anchor to the sidewall. When you add the butyl tape, it acts like a glue strip. We haven't had any rails pull out.

Had two Dometic slide toppers installed on our 3350 last week. Rained over the weekend. Rain pooled up on main slide topper. Ran right off bunkhouse topper. When putting slides in, water ran right off toppers.
So far I'm glad we had them installed.
