6V batteries in an Alpine

Has anyone here with an Alpine model installed Trojan 6V batteries at all? I went out to the dealer that's holding my trailer for me and did some measurements this weekend. It looks like the battery "trays" are 10 3/4" by 6 3/4", but if my Trojan pamphlet is right, then I need 7 1/8" width for them. I REALLY don't wanna have to start cutting welds and such just to fit batteries.

Any thoughts?

I can check when I get home. I have the Sam's clubs 6's in the gen tray because I installed a 2K inverter charger there as well. but I put in 4 so I never considered the original cavity.

I think each dealer throws in a battery before selling the unit. So it's the luck of the draw, but usually an off brand 12 deep cycle battery.

We asked about an upgrade to two 6's and they said they would just throw it in. We didn't grind them to the bone on price so we still get respectable service. The two 6's would not fit in the side battery compartment so they installed some cable extensions into the front generator compartment and put both 6's in two battery boxes screwed to the floor. Works like a hot damn.

Yes, I have the very same problem with my 2011 Keystone Alpine 3500 RE. I had two 6v deep cycle batteries installed. One failed, and it turns out that it cracked arguably because whoever installed it used a GREAT deal of force. Now, I have the replacement sitting crooked so it doesn't crack.
