Picking up new Cougar 26SABWE

Hi Everyone,

New to TTs and picking up my new Cougar 26SABWE on Wednesday. Can anyone that has this model chime in and give me any pointers or things to watch out for that you experienced?

We are really excited and looking forward to taking it out. Unfortunately the weekend after we pick it up is labor Day weekend and all campgrounds and RV lots in Colorado are booked. We may just pull in to the Cabelas lot for a night or two to check it out..... Lol. I just got a good deal on a Champion 3100 for $500 off a co-worker that only put 2 hours on it so this will be a good test.

I'm looking forward to scouring the forum to learn from all you seasoned veterans and hopefully be able to add some vale in time.

Update: There was a cancellation at a RV camp at Estes Park...Wahoo!

There's got to be better places to dry camp then Cabelas

There are many areas in Colorado in the national forest to dry camp.

Thanks, I'll search for boondock and BLM locations and see what I can come up with. I want to make sure everything is working properly before I head out on our first camping trip. The wife never did any camping before and I don't want to have any problems that discourage her.

You know what they say "If mommy isn't happy, no one is happy"!

With the exception of a flakey awning motor, my Cougar has been flawless. I haven't had to correct any build deficiencies or fix anything in it.

I have the same model. I've had it just at a year and no problems with the awning motor, but I'm curious what "flaky" is. Maybe I have a problem and didn't realize it. LOL.

I just discovered my slideout wiper seals are coming apart and I need to replace them in the immediate. I think they started breaking down with exposure as I have them out almost constantly. They look fairly easy to replace though.

My propane regulator began leaking after 6 months and had to be replaced. Obviously not model specific.

Otherwise, everything else is kind of fair wear and tear.

Flakey as when on battery only would not retract the awning. I started explaining it to Lippert and he immediately sent me a new motor out of warranty for $0. Installed the new motor and all is well.

Made a mistake in my posting, I edited it to say awning not slide.

Thanks everyone, it sounds like we made the right decision going with the Cougar but time will really tell. We pick it up on Wednesday and are really excited. I'm installing rear coil spring air bags on my Ram tonight to help with the rear suspension.
