AM function doesn't work!
The FM on my stereo works but not the AM. The obvious thing to my simple mind is to remove the stereo and make sure there is an antenna hooked up. This would normally be a piece of wire. OK, the problem is I can't figure out how to get the stereo out. There is a panel below in the entertainment center and when removed shows the aluminum frame with no access. You can't get in from atop the stereo as there is a TV shelf AND below and between the TV shelf is a pull out desk. The backside of the entertainment center is the bathroom wall with no access. STUMPED!

Our 1993 Holiday Rambler TV was mounted on a shelf with a cabinet door under it. The TV was secured with 4 bolts from below the shelf that ran up into the feet of the TV. Is there a means to remove the front panel of your entertainment center? You may find that there are screws/bolts from below that hold the three components in place so they won't move ????
Just a WAG, it may be nothing like the above ????

There are two trim strips atop and on the sides of the "shelf" above the stereo and these are retained with screws. The shelf may lift out if they are removed. I don't see where the stereo would be retained from the top. The large faux wood panel below the stereo can be removed as it is held to the frame by two screws. No access there; only aluminum frame.

A wire most likely will not do much good for the AM. Best to use an antenna.

Does the trim piece on the stereo face come off? If that is removed the screws that hold the radio place may be behind it.

My am is just static, I figured it was lack of antenna but until baseball and football start I hadn’t looked into it. From others I have talked to, there is a thin wire behind it that’s just wound up. It’s right above the water heater, so I may be able to run it outside through the access grill.

There should be a short wire connected to the back of the radio for the AM signals. I wondered if anyone actually knew how to get this stereo out. I don't think the front frame pops off but will look at that.

I listen mostly to San Antonio radio stations. Classic Country, Christian, talk sports, talk news. ALL AM stations. Nothing much on FM except pop and current country (don't care much for it at all) and Tejano music. I think I will stick with AM for the most part.
The owner's manual is useless... no install instructions but it does show a 1 foot long AM antenna as I have already described. It is hook to the back.

If anyone has one of these RCA stereos and has removed it, I would be interested in knowing how. The front DOES NOT COME OFF. The stereo and speakers are fastened to a thin faux wood shelf board (about 3/16" thick) which sits atop a piece of thicker hardboard which forms the top of my pass through. There are no fasteners going through the hard board BUT when you pry up on one of the stereo pieces, they are attached to the 3/16" shelf board. I pried up as far as I can and couldn't see any fasteners. I suspect the stereo and speaks were glued to the board. I will make an attempt to use a flat butter knife tomorrow slid under one of the pieces (probably a speaker as it is only about 8" deep) to see if I can tell if there is either glue or some metal fastener. The shelf the stereo bits sit on is not visible from the outside so a little damage probably will not make a difference.
