Dometic refrigerator

Domestic refrigerator model DM2852LBFX will come on but shuts off after 5-10 mins. I can reset the button on the thermo fuse and it will come on but after 5-10 mins shuts off again. Any ideas?

I assume you’re talking about the thermo fuse on the chimney? Are you on AC or LP?

That thermofuse will trip based on heat. It may be faulty, here is the service manual:

Can you use a laser temp gun and measure how hot the chimney is at the thermal fuse.

I don’t have one.
The sensor on top of the rear coils that two wires are connected to that runs to the fan I just replaced it waiting now to see what happens.

That is simply for the fans, doesn’t control the chimney. I wonder if you might have a blockage in the chimney, or the vent.

If your refer is in a slide, you don’t have a vent on the roof. If it is in a slide, then take the top access panel off and look.

That was my thought too.
Chimney can get carboned up.

Have you managed to fix it?

I blew the chimney out it seems to be all clear. I turned it back and does the same thing after about 20 mins shuts off. The lower part of the chimney is hot that you can’t touch it(from element down) the upper part is just warm I can touch it with no problem.

You state you blew out the flue stack - if you didnt take the time to remove the stack and clean it then blowing it out probably did not do much for removing build up inside the flue

Also you stated you replaced the thermo fuse.. did the one you replace it with match the specs on the existing one removed?

If not the tolerance on the new one may not be correct.,

If cleaning out the flue stack ( be removing and brushing out ) and verifying the correct temp range thermo fuse is installed in the stack doesnt fix the issue then most likley the cooling unit has a blockage and is failing

IMO

I understand now about blowing it out. I’ll take it apart and clean it. The thermo fuse was correct specs. Also it’s doing the same thing before i changed just stays on longer before shutting off 🤷🏼*♂️

Have you used a temp gun to see just how hot the chimney is when it trips?

A good read on the thermo fuse on your 2852 and if your temp on the flue stack is higher then listed in the chart within the link then as I stated before... the cooling unit is bad.,.

This is provided you have verified the vents are clear, cooling fans are working, therm fuse is correct PN, and flue stack is clean.. ( there was NO Need to pull the fridge to clean the baffle inside the flue stack )
