Question Which One? Sewer Wye or Tee?

Just found out the new trailer I am looking at has two dump valves. So . . . I'm gonna need 2 sewer hoses. Does anyone have input on using a sewer wye over a sewer tee. Any pro's or con's to either one please.

I looked at it this way: one of those valves is nothing but gray water, and you only need the giant hose for black water. The giant hose is awkward, so why deal with two?

I outfitted the gray-only valve with a bayonet cap that had the additional garden hose connector, and got myself a red gray-water hose for that valve.

Then I bought a new Prest-o-fit blue elbow (an item which I've used for years and swear by) and a male bulkhead garden hose fitting (image). I ported the elbow on the side (where it's a bit off the ground no matter what side of the elbow is down) and installed the hose fitting. (I had to caulk the inside, as the inside surface is a tad Escher).

When I overnight and won't be dumping the forward gray tank, I cap the hose fitting with a brass hose cap. When I am staying for a while and want to hook everything up, I put a female-female hose connector on the elbow and run the red hose to it.

I think the Y provides more options/flexibility. Our Laredo 225MK has the black tank and one on the grey tanks behind the axles. The other grey water tank is ahead of the axles. If you have a long run, it is better to just do that with one hose. I have four sections of hose and two of the accordion hose stands. Seems to work out fine. I store two of the hose sections in the rear bump. Everything else goes in the pass thru. Chris

While Ihaven's idea and use of the 5/8 hose to drain the grey tank seems fine at face value, keep in mind that unless your rig has a grey water flush then the build-up of 'settlement' will not be properly removed from the grey tank. It is not a good idea for a permanent install. We too have a cap with a garden hose fitting and have drained grey water away from the RV in a pinch, but it is not a good idea overall. YMMV

I would go with the "Y" fitting. My reasoning is based on a quick and unobstructed dump of your Black Water, and then a good flush of your Grey Tank.

A 45 degree route is, in my opinion, better than a 90. You will already have one 90 where you go into the ground. A second 90 would slow solid things down

I basically do what Snoking does with the exception of leaving the galley grey tank valve open. This has to left open because when Keystone built this particular model they thought the purchasers would all be members of "Cirque du Soleil". What the hell were the designers (can't call them Engineers) thinking!

I'd use the "Y" for flow reasons stated. Our Raptor 353TS has the back grey water routed to the forward dump line. So the rearward dump line is the back black tank only.

I also had 2 valves to contend with on my last 5er. I used the "Y" junction. Worked great.

Our 5th wheel has two dump lines, and we use a wye adapter to minimize any effluent flow restrictions. Two years and counting, and we havenít had any concerns or issues...

Personally I would look at re-plumbing the drains to one under the trailer.
Our rear kitchen grey tank drains forward to the dump valve, one hose connection.
Yes, it is a bit of work to do, but only once then you are at a single hose.
