New 5th W owner from NH

I just bought a new 2023 Fuzion 419 that we’ll mainly use for 18-20 MX races a year, around the east coast (almost all boondocking) and hopefully a handful of family camping trips.

I have a new 2023 Ford F350 diesel dually for pulling her around. So far, my only trip was bringing it back home to northern NH from Cincinnati, where I bought the unit, but I was shocked at how effortlessly my truck towed it. Most of the the time, I forgot I even had a trailer back there, lol.

My first question would be, what is everyone’s go-to, RV specific, GPS app? A lot of the tracks we go to are off the beaten path and in the past I’ve gotten stuck at RR trestles I couldn’t get under or turns I couldn’t make with my old Class A because Google maps assumes I’m in a car. And backing out of those situations would be a nightmare with this behemoth.

Get a truckers map or check around for a truckers gps. I use a truckers atlas. Also us my gps that you can set for length, weight and height.

Welcome aboard! Many here use one of the Garmin RV GPS models. We have the 770, which seems to take good care of us.

Welcome from south Georgia and congrats on your new Fuzion. I also use a Garmin RV gps, the 785. It works great and you can set two different profiles, one for the RV and the other just for the truck. I use the gps and the dash cam for every day driving.

Welcome from the only Henniker on earth!

Many folks recommend the standalone Garmin GPS unit, but I don’t like dashboard clutter so we use the RV Life Pro GPS App for iPhone and connect to the truck’s built-in screen via Apple CarPlay for a seamless experience. The app allows us to set all the truck/trailer specs and has been working great for us over 10-15,000 miles of trailering each year.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on your new Fuzion! And yes! Towing with the 1 ton trucks is such a nice experience. Just don't get too relaxed and forget completely the trailer is there. It's so easy to do ... until you decide to make a turn or pass someone.... then you get the .... oh crap! moment! and immediately make a sudden correction move!

Happy camping! Enjoy!

Welcome from Jackson, just over the notch!

I use the good sam, rv life and harvest host planning tools and mainly keep all my trips in the good sam planner since that is where we started and I have a history of all the trips/places we have stayed for future reference as landing/avoiding spots.

Originally I used various online phone GPS based apps and then started using the Garmin RV 770 and won't go back. As stated before I hate the 'dashboard clutter' but it just is a good interface that has never gotten us in trouble. I do use other phone apps as I think they are better to find truck stops for diesel etc.
