lighting oven

Over a year ago I purchased a 2007 Mountaineer and it has become harder and harder to light the oven pilot light, and just today my wife just gave up trying. Are there any tricks and/or repairs that I need to follow or do?
Thanks,
Larry

You need to replace the thermocouple

can go to any RV part store and purchase, simple replacement ...just at an awkward position to get at it...on hands and knees, reaching into the dark neither regions of the oven.

On one trailer I had, the knob that pushes in to the pilot position was stripped a little. I had to take the knob off and put some tin foil in it so that it would push the valve in all the way. It would not allow enough propane through the thermocouple. Very frustrating especially because you have to kneel down and stretch out to get in there with a lighter!

I agree it could be a failing thermocouple, can you provide a little more info so we can help.
Is the pilot not staying lit? (thermocouple)

Or you not getting propane to get the pilot to light? (knob control)

Or like many of us, getting down and reaching to light the *&!! pilot while holding the knob in the pilot position is getting harder and harder?

Gotta admit when our current stove stopped lighting I used it as a great excuse to say "forget it" and buy a convection/mircrowave that replaced the microwave. We had a convection oven in our fiver when full-timing and loved it. Now we just push the buttons and bake, broil, roast easier and faster then that blankty-blank oven.

Pilot

My stove had a pilot adjustment. There was a small hole in the front of the stove where the controls are. A small screw driver will turn the adjustment screw. Move the screw just a little at a time as ours was very sensitive. A full turn of the screw and we could have cooked on the pilot light.

You can so take a piece of emory paper or fine sand paper and sand off the thermocouple element surfaces. Sometimes just needs to be cleaned up.
