Bed covers

I’m looking at getting a bed cover for my 2015 gmc 2500. I have it narrowed down between a tri fold hard cover and retractable. I’m leaning toward a Retrax one. I have a bakflip g2 on my work truck and hate it. Not crazy about losing the bed space with the Retrax but I’ll get over it. Also looked at the extend 2.0 folding cover and kind of like it and the bak revolver.

Anyone have any suggestions or other brands they like better.

Thanks,

I have a Pace Edwards bedlocker power cover with 2 remotes and the rails where I can put bike or other racks on it. I like it because I can cover my 5th wheel hitch and stuff and I bring it up near the hitch after I hookup and cover stuff I keep in the bed of the truck. When I open it up all the way I can see my hitch to hookup with the fold ups my friends say the can't see their hitch to hookup but not sure about that. Some of my friends have the same cover but not power and that works fine and a lot cheaper.

I’ve looked at that as well and like the rails that would allow me to attach the bike or kayak racks. You had any problems with it popping open? Can you open the tailgate with the cover closed?

It stays closed and never has open until I push the fob button and and yes the tailgate will open with the cover closed, that's the way I use it most of the time with small stuff LOL. I only have one complaint the rubber seal that touches the tailgate is a 1/2" short so it will leak in the corner when I take it to the car wash but I am not sure the cover is leaking or the clearance in the tailgate and the truck body when they spry my car off. I called the factor ans suggested they make that slide in rubber piece long and let the installer cut it to fit but they said it was per cut other than that it works great. There is a rubber seal kit you can buy that will seal your tailgate from water and dust all over you-tube but I haven't tried that yet.

This is what we have too and love it, but don't have the rails. We have had these on 3 different trucks since 1999 or 2000. Did I mention I love it? Well, all except the price.

They are not cheap but I think worth it! My 5th wheel hitch is never out of my truck and it still looks new and my floor jack has no rust on it at all and still looks new because being under the cover.

I have a 2016 2500. Have the Gator Trax (exact same thing as Retrax, just $50 cheaper). Love it. Very secure quality product. Once you get over the sticker shock, you will not be disappointed.

I also give another vote for Gator Trax. I have this one on my 2016 GMC DenaliHD 3500 DRW and love it. Beds stays dry, 5th Wheel hitch remains in bed with cover closed when not pulling 5th Wheel.

I have the undercover Lux, it came painted to match the Sterling Gray of the truck and looks great.

It was under $900, shipped, I can remove by myself and the tailgate will not open if it is closed (a feature, I think).

I’ve read other places that if you call some of the online retailers you can negotiate them down, anyone try that?
