Jensen in command

Went into my 2016 371 fuzion yesterday and found the dc controller with a white screen. Had the unit for since March of 2016, never had a problem. I went ahead and shut down power completely to the system, actually the whole trailer. I let it sit for an hour and booted it back up, same thing, white screen. Did this a few times just to be sure. Have a call in to Asa electronics, pretty sure I have bad parts, one or the other. Hopefully can get it going by labor day, have a trip planned.....

Did you happen to put the app on a cell phone and sync it before that happened?

Curious if it's still usable from the app if the screen has issues.

If I remember correctly, I think there is a reset down in the box where all the wiring comes in.

I put the app on my phone and sync'd it right after I bought it. Never had a problem til yesterday. I looked for a reset on the bcm, but don't see anything.

Also the red light is on, on the bcm, but not the bluetooth light. I tried the app on my phone and it will not work because it can't sync up with the system in the coach

If the red light is on the BCM has power
The Bluetooth has to be communicating to the DC for the blue light to come on

Try cycling the DC with the Power button. (Hold it down for 5 seconds to turn off)
Check main fuse in Distribution Panel.
Check 12V+ on wire to DC using a Digital
Multimeter.
Check Ground wire to DC.

Jensen in command

FYI:

The DC (Display Commander, aka touch-screen) connects to the BCM via Bluetooth.
The phones/apps connect to the DC (not the BCM) via Bluetooth.

The blue LED on the BCM signifies connectivity between the DC and the BCM.

This all means the DC has to be functioning correctly and connecting to the BCM for the phones/apps to control anything.

All of the "can't connect to BCM" business is, I believe, a Bluetooth connection problem.

Often, you can power cycle (turn off/on) the DC by pressing-and-holding the power button on the DC. Once off, press-and-hold again to turn it on. However, to power cycle both the DC and BCM, simply turn off the converter and turn off the battery disconnect... then turn back on. This usually corrects the situation. Some folks do report that doesn't work and it is a trip to the dealer. [emoji53]

I think the dc is cooked, waiting to hear back from Asa, will have them send me one and I'll install it. I don't go to the dealer.....

Great info in this thread. I had to warranty my DC with ASA and the tech support was great! In my case I completely screwed up and bricked the unit by updating the WRONG firmware for the display that I have (yes there are more than 1 DC type - who knew). Anyway, if you have to send it in, the turn around is rather quick and you can still run your functions (slides, awnings, etc.) from the manual switches on the BCM. Not convenient for sure, but tolerable until you get back up and running.

What is the BCM?
While I think the Jensen thing is cool, I have this fear of what's going to happen when it breaks. How will I know my tanks are full?
How do I turn the lights on and off, etc?

The Jensen iN-Command system has two parts: the DC (Display Commander or touch screen) and the BCM (Body Control Module or main control board). The DC is mounted on the inside of the camper on a wall and is used to control everything. It connects to the BCM via Bluetooth. The BCM is mounted in the cargo area and has all of the electrical connections running to it because it is what actually has all the internal switches and is the brains.

I had the exact same problem not long ago. Maybe this will help some: https://rv-therapy.com/2017/07/08/whos-in-command/

FYI, the new In-Command Pro is wired directly to the BCM instead of over BlueTooth.

I have already sent my dc back to ASA and they are sending me a replacement. They offered to upgrade me to the new hardwired system, but would not send it to me directly. Said it could only be done at a dealership for warranty purposes, I get that, but I have no faith in dealerships, so I'm just taking the replacement unit for now. I am installing a separate remote relay board that will bypass all necessary functions, main lights, hot water and water pump etc, in the event of future death of the dc. I thought this was a great idea instead of all the hardwired switches, but now I'm thinking differently.

Just to update, I received a new DC from ASA, installed it and all is well. Johnny and Harold at ASA were very helpful from the get go. It took about 3 weeks from the start of my phone calls to get the new unit, however they did offer to upgrade me to the new system to get me going sooner, which I declined. All in all I would give them 5 stars for customer service.

That's great, it's been my experience also. But I would've loved to have the option for the In-Command Pro hardware kit!
