Again, if your doing this to hover that closely to someones home, or property, things are bound to happen.

The article didn't specify, but its quite possible the video camera wasn't on it to record, but just to fly it (first person view). However that really doesn't make it any better.

I don't feel bad for the guy who got it shot down. Then again for the guy shooting at it and getting arrested for it, don't really feel bad either. He should know the ordinances in his area and if they don't allow for it, then he should have just contacted the authority's about the copter.

In a lot of cases the fancier ones require a amateur radio license to fly, or at least to use the FPV, and also they are required to stay below a certain height. Those who don't follow the rules can be tracked down.

Don't know if anyone posted it yet, but someone attached a pistol to one and poste a youtube video of him remotely shooting it while hovering. Now that is scary stuff.

"The FAA said it is working with Clinton police, who are also investigating. State police said there is no state law banning armed drones."

Now what the H*ll is wrong with this picture???

By the way, he was arrested on "unrelated warrant".

YEP THE KID WENT AFTER THE POLICE MEN. JUST PERFECT! ONLY IN CONNECTICUT WITH THE COUNTRY'S TOUGHEST GUN LAWS IS IT OK TO STRAP A GUN TO A QUADCOPTER!. It is such a sad state that common sence has gone out the window.

Presently we have 130 wildfires burning in our province which have burnt thousands of acres, costing millions of tax dollars in firefighting costs (and rising every day) and has resulted in loss of life of one of the firefighters.

We have also had to ask for help from anyone and everyone who can send crews to help with fighting the fires and we have been fortunate to get help from our friends in other provinces, in the U.S and Australia.

It's dangerous, hard, dirty work.

To make things worse than they already are, now we have had "multiple drones" hovering over these areas which are hampering the efforts of fire crews on the ground and in the air which are preventing planes and helicopters from dropping water and fire retardant.

If and when the idiots who own and fly these drones are caught they should be given a pick and shovel and be sent out on the fire lines for the rest of the fire season. Feed them and let them sleep in forests that have burnt. Maybe they might learn a lesson but I am thinking that with a single-digit IQ, they won't learn a d*** thing!

This concerns me more than any possible "invasion of privacy" issue.

Thanks for bringing forward the truth on the Southwest flight. Jethead, however, minimizes the real possibility of a drone strike. He only addresses the potential problem with a large aircraft, but doesn't mention a drone strike with a smaller general aviation aircraft. Having a midair between a drone and a smaller, general aviation, single engine aircraft would have more severe consequences than he outlines in his blog.

Never would of thought when I posted this question about drones in a campground I would have this wide array of postings. This was some interesting reading but good.

Following the laws for drone flight by the FAA is important. Make sure to look it up before you fly. You might have to register, for more information go with http://3dinsider.com/drone-safety/.

Sorry but I don't know what all the fuss is about. I've seen several of them and just wave at them and go about my business. Hasn't bothered me nor will it ever bother me. Even if a low plane flies over are some of you going to take a shot at it because they might also be taking pictures??? I've even thought about getting a drone to play with some but decided against it because of so many being touchy about thinking someone might be looking at them...LOL!!!!

I don't think you're getting it. When we go camping, I don't want kids (or adults) walking or riding bikes through our site. I don't want radio controlled toys buzzing through either. I do everything in my power to be a good and considerate neighbor. I expect the same from others. Control your pets, your kids, yourselves. Kind of like loud music, drones are a nuisance.

I don’t like the intrusions either, so we avoid certain types of parks. I have to say, though, that the concern over drones seems to border on the same hysteria as opposing party Russian collusion. Boondocking with another rig or two comprised of friends with similar interests is our favorite camping. The older I get, the less I like crowds.

I don't want people walking through our campsite either nor would I want a drone flying "through" my camp, that would be disrespectful in my opinion. For me, as long as they are elevated well above the camp and my RV I don't have any issues with them. I don't mind others seeing what I'm doing nor I wouldn't think most would mind people seeing what they are doing outside their camper...If I did I wouldn't be camping in a public campground. To me, camping is all about visiting and getting to know others that have similar interests as I do and enjoying the company of others so as long as everyone is being respectful. Thats all I'm saying.

+1

My son and I both bought drones, amazing amount of tech, in a very small package.

If I fly when we are camping, it is in and above our site or a long the roads getting there.

They are very easy to fly... stop moving the sticks and they just hover where ever they are. They have GPS guidance, will return and land exactly where they took off from and they have 4K /15 MP cameras.

No privacy is invaded, just fun to fly.

My son stitched together some of the videos he took , while we were in Colorado, in May.

Video

Just like anything, some people are responsible, others are not.

Brian, I don't think there is any denying that the video at least is "way cool."
And yes, I certainly would like to play "behind the stick" for a couple hours. I suspect that I would become bored after awhile. I have no trouble with the drones at our park. We have never had one so I don't exactly know how I would react. But I can tell you this: I am WAY more inclined to have harsh words with the owner of a barking dog then the pilot of a drone.
