Tattletale alarm

Purchased this a few days ago and got around to setting it up today

Very fast set up and activation

I boondock a lot and a lot of different places, feel safer having some kind of alarm that will text me if there is a problem if i leave the rig somewhere

Also having an alarm if someone opens the door at night etc

Unit seems well made and they have a 12 volt cord that will run it, along with a 20 hour battery

Will update this over the months as i use it more

Cvin, can we assume it is required that you boondock close to a cell tower?

Yes

The unit does have to have Verizon service for it to work

90 to 95 percent of the time I have cell service

But even without cell service the alarm would go off at night if someone opened one of the doors, this is important to me because I’m very hard of hearing

My gps tracker uses sat, and can somehow send me a text or an email when movement is sensed.

Danny, the moderators are going to give you two MORE demerits if you keep up any more posting with the phrase "12 gauge shotgun" in it......better be careful.

update on this alarm

unit seemed to work good for about a year
worked well with any movement in the trailer and the door sensors on the regular door and toy hauler door

and then would not charge or work off the cord at all

sent it in and after a couple of weeks got it back, this was a time i was travelling and boondocking a lot so was not happy i had to send it in and was without an alarm

since then it seems to drop the cell signal all the time..
it text my phone 10 times a day saying it lost the signal
thing is verizon and att pick up well here so that seems unlikely, my guess is the unit has another problem
just wrote the company again and will see how things play out, hoping they can test it remotely somehow

but right now for the price i paid for this not really happy

will update once it is repaired etc

hmm, well guessing most of you dont have a 75% hearing loss and not hearing someone get into the trailer while you sleep is not a problem for you

but for me it is!

i also like knowing someone is breaking into my trailer in real time on the off chance my neighbors or the police might could stop them

the unit worked good, reliable and would have text me if someone broke in before it had these issues

if no problems i would be very happy with it

maybe my issues are just a fluke but wanted others to know

I hope you get it fixed. And please understand there was no intent on my part to cause you any harm. If this product works for you then by all means use it and please update us as to the fix.

Just a thought, I got a motion alarm for a second alarm system to be used when I do not have the whole house/garage system on, (I am home and just wanted the garage covered). About 15 bucks at HF, wireless I place the alarm near my bed and can be heard throughout the house. It will not solve the issue while your gone but, will or should wake you up when activated.

If you can't get that alarm going there are litteraly hundres of different car alarms to consider. 12 v.d.c. systems is the common denominator.

Did I miss something here? I've reread the original post(s), and I did not see a picture or link to the (cellular) equipment being discussed here. You've piqued my interest...

Cvin, "Hmm, well guessing most of you don't have a 75% hearing loss and not hearing someone get into the trailer while you sleep is not a problem for you"

We're all on your side here. Most members here are middle-aged or better and not a one of us takes our hearing or loss thereof lightly. Chuckster was making a funny in reference to Danny's shotgun comment and that the alarm not seeming to live up to it's expected longevity.

I also was interested in which alarm you purchased. I hope the alarm company gets off their butt and makes it right with you.

Jim

the name of the alarm is tattletale

here is a link

https://www.tattletale.com

i wanted something that could text me when the alarm went off to hopefully be able to prevent theft etc

when this is working correctly it does that
it can also be set to send the police just like a regular house alarm

it is wired to the toy door and the main door on my unit and will go off if someone opens the doors at nite
it does need a cell signal and uses verizon, so far i havent been anywhere that the cell signal could not pick up

it has other add ons you can see on their website, so i could in theory add more sensors etc to my van and have those alert also

wanted to update this that company is standing behind their product and is sending me a new unit
so far all my communication with these guys has been great

wanted to update this

no problems at all with the tattletale with the new unit

still very pleased with this and happy I spent the money

one thing that has been handy is the trailer is parked in flagstaff in the summers at a friends and I am gone 3-5 days at a time
occasionally the power cord gets bumped or tripped and I get an alert from the alarm telling me it has lost power
I just text my friend and they fix it even if I am 300 miles away

also get an alert when power is restored etc
and the unit does a self test once a week

it has been reliable and makes me feel much better about leaving the trailer places while I bike ride or work all day
