Suburban SW6P Pilot Stays Lit but Burner not starting
Good afternoon,
This is my first post. Currently camping at Fall Creek Falls in TN. Went to start my suburban SW6P water heater and the pilot light came on no issues. When i went to move the selector to ON position the pilot light stays on but the burner does not start. Left for 5 min and came back to just the pilot light still ignited.
Gave the system a knock or two no luck. Seems like the valve for the burner is not coming on even tho the pilot light is lit.
Also the camper is a 2017 Keystone Summerland Mini 1750RD. Nothing like paying for full hookups and not being able to shower confortably
Any help is appreciated

First welcome to the forum. Sorry to hear your having issues.
A little more info would be helpful. Is this the first time you have used the water heater? If not, when was the last time? Have you tried turning it off and going thru the lighting procedure again? Does the other lp appliances work? i.e. the burners on the stove top/oven? If you've done that and still no results then I'd suggest adjusting the thermostat a little bit next.

Why not run it on electric for the weekend if you have full hook ups?

SW6P is a manual light, propane only water heater.
OP: as sated, do the other LP appliances work? Since the pilot light stays lit the thermocoupler is probably not the issue. I would turn it off, cycle the temp control all the way both ways and try again. When you turn the temperature up do you hear a anything as it reaches the point of opening the gas valve?

Thanks for the reply. This was the first time this season we tried to use the water heater. Worked fine the last two years where it got more use.
We went throigh lighting procedure 3 times.
The other appliances work fine. Fridge and stovetop
We also moved the thermostat from med to liw and to high with no change

You can replace the anode rod with a "hot rod". Thats a 120v heating element that plugs into an outlet. They used to be inexpensive but now it looks like they are going for $100+ with some other brands for over $50. Then you need and outlet near by also. If you're planning on replacing the camper look foe a HWH that has DSI.
On your current unit you might remove the burner tube and check for spiders or other insects nesting in there. It's a common issue that can be prevented by placing a cheap dog or cat flea & tick collar inside away from the burner.

Send me links for the Hot rod reccomendations to have as a option. Do they have anodes on them to keep the tank safe or you run the risk of damaging the system with them

Google 'Camco Hot Water Hybrid Heat Kit (11673)'. I haven't used one as mine have all been electric/propane DSI heaters so I don't know if there's any anode attached.

try cycling the knob that you turn to set it to pilot and turn it on. Push the knob all the way down a couple of times, and then rotate it all the way to off and on a few times, it might be sticking.
