Snowing down in Texas

Overnight snow in Houston. Enough to cover the grass. Deep south Texas was predicted to get up to 7 inches.
If you're traveling I-10 anywhere between El Paso and Mississippi expect issues.

Best I can tell it moved eastward sorta between us.
As expected we have cars sideways on the freeways all around town.

It was 26, when I got up around 7:00 this morning, clear and cold.

I don't like it, we need to do a better job of securing the TX border, to keep this cold crap out.

I was in my shop at about 6PM last night and there is only one window in this small building. It was dark and when I opened the door there were big big flakes coming down. We got about 2-3 inches which is almost all melted now. The GREAT BLIZZARD OF 17 did cause our power to go out for three hours and I fired up the generator and we had lights in the bedroom and ate delicious peanut butter sandwiches for a romantic evening with the 10 dogs all trying to get on the bed with us. Geesh.

It was 54F Tuesday and is supposed to be 12F tonight. We've got snow on the ground, but who knows what tomorrow will be. The weatherman has been "best guessing" for over a month now and gets it right about half the time. It sounds like this is not the week to be in the southeast !!!

Low to mid 30’s at night here. Makes it hard to work on a customers car in the driveway until about 11 AM.

Ha! We have had such great weather until the last couple of days here in the FL panhandle. Great thing is the highs are in the upper 40s and lows, until the next day or so, have been about 4' lower. I think we do get close the freezing mark in the next day or so, for a day or so.

To us, this is really great weather. And, I don't have to shovel snow to get in and out of the house, run 4 wheel drive to get to the store etc. like we would at our home in the mountains.....AND, I get fresh fish, shrimp and oysters every day!!

Yeah, Yeah, Danny, go ahead, rub it in !!! LOL

But, I don't have to put my beer in the refrigerator to keep it cold... Hell, just set it down most anywhere, if it doesn't freeze, it's good to go LOL

Where you're at, it's a day or two and things will be warm again. Here, we'll see "warm again" hopefully in May ?????

.

I sit here this morning with coffee in hand reading what everyone is doing. The Chinook has been blowing all night, at 0655 it is 52F going up to 59F this afternoon. Tonight is our 50+ clubs' Christmas dinner so great weather for that.

John, I came to the conclusion years ago, the weather people are only sure of two things.........
1. Time of sunrise
2. Time of sunset

Of than those two things, everything else is strictly guesswork.....sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong.

3. Moon phase.....forgot about that one!

I AGREE, weather is definitely an "inexact science"..... Around here, if you watch 3 TV stations, all three will have different "guesses" about tomorrow's weather......

On another note, a friend (from Texas) sent me this photo of ElPaso's snow removal equipment.... It would never work here, there's no yellow flashing light on top.....

We had a heavy frost, for us, this morning. I think it got down to 28. I had snow on my fall tomatoes and on what few satsumas I had, during the big blizzard of 2017.
Sunny and 58 now. Me and the DW been hacking our heads off with bronchitis for the last 3 days. We both have cabin fever bad.
Think I'll clip the front hedges this afternoon. Maybe fish later this week.

Javi: I saw a pic of the big oak tree at Goose Island with snow all over it. May have seen the pic at www.2coolfishing.com I think they got more snow down south than about anyone.
