My HORSE

Nothing special other than a 2011 Chevy Z71-6.6 duramax with the Allison tranny. Pulls our 40ft, 3 axel toy hauler like a charm. We call it the turtle, cause it don't know any better than to pull its weight around.

Pulled the Passport 280BH to Philpott Lake, Virginia....Salthouse Branch CG, about 140 miles. Weighs 4500 dry and we had it at about 5800 or so...safely below the 6455GVW. With the WDH it only settled about 1-1/2" in the rear; front stayed "level." Did not use OD in the hills, but rarely got over 55mph after getting off I40, and not much over 35mph in the really hilly, twisting two-lane roads. Average fuel economy went down to 9.4 MPG, but our '05 Expedition had NO problems pulling or stopping...it handled much better than I had expected.
Two obligatory "Walmart Parking Lot" photos...

....and all tucked in at Salthouse Branch!

Wanna try to take it back out again before it gets too cold!

Expedition El with its new partner , a 2015 2810bh. It has served us well towing a Jayco 23b hybrid for several years and the trip home from
The dealer was a nice mix of roads from two lane country to a section of freeway. Seemed
to do well together.

Got the hitch put on today, we'll pull the whole mess this weekend with 1 atv and 2 dirt bikes and see how it works out. 66 ft from bumper to bumper.

Is that a trailer behind your trailer??? Love to know how that works out for you, I've been thinking about pulling my kayak trailer behind my TT instead of putting the boats on top of the truck..

I wish we could pull a double in WA and OR. Would save me from having to buy a second Tow Vehicle. Be like a choo choo heading down the freeway but I'd be willing to go for it. However all together I'd be about 83ft with Truck+Trailer+Boat and I don't think that would fly...

(Nevermind the 4mpg I'd average)

I did this a lot with our last camper and it works great, should work good with this one as well. We see tons of double trailers here, a lot are fifth wheels but there's some other bumper pulls that are doubled.

Cool

My 2014 Outback 316RL and F250. Pulls like a dream. Recently upgraded from a F150, and thankful for the added safety margins.

We haul our two kayaks (one 11' sit-in and one 9.5' SOT) in the RV (279RKS). The 2 fit, stacked, with the SOT on the bottom, on the floor of the main living area. They will also fit on the bed. We have hauled 4 this way - two as mentioned and two on the bed. The ones on the floor are resting on foam "kayak keepers" and secured with tie-downs to the floor anchors for the swivel rocker. With the slide in, the sofa prevents them from shifting side to side. We tie down the two on the bed by wrapping the tie-down strap under the bed platform. I use pillows to pad areas where the boats might slip and rub.

I know this will not work with all floor plans, but it works great in ours and it doesn't take long to load them. The only hang-up is, if you want to stop on the road and grab something from the fridge - you can't. But, you can get to the bathroom

I am new to the site and just purchased this new Hornet Hideout 27DBS on Thursday. We took it out over the weekend without any real issues. Everything work well, with the exception of the DVD (B & W issue) and all of the jacks have rust on them with one bolt broken due to rust. Taking it in this week to get repaired. The jacks worked fine otherwise.

The Durango did a great job pulling. It was a little wobbly going into the wind. I need to adjust the distribution bar height to level it out a bit. Other than that, my family and I are very pleased with this trailer. We may be planning a few more trips before the season is over.

I sort of feel out of place posting the picture of my set up with all the nice newer trucks.

1970 F250 Highboy 4x4 I've owned 13 years. I have rebuilt everything that can be rebuilt on it. Powered by a bored out 390 that I have "warmed up". Truck has 4inchs factory lift and 3inchs of body lift. Has a 2-speed Gear box in front of a 4-speed tranny. 4.10 rear end. I get 8mpg towing.
